hi it’s jinyin again! i just posted a new work called the good detective! the good detective is one of my favorite k-dramas and i decided to put a wangxian spin on it. despite the heaviness that’ll be in the story, there’s gonna be an incessant amount of flirting and team bonding moments—and maybe just a twist or two!

What? (or: detective lan wangji meets lieutenant wei wuxian, his new partner—things spiral from there.)

Yellow please!

Yellow: 7 facts about my childhood

1. I attended a multi-age elementary school, so I was in a 1st and 2nd grade class, and then one that combined 3rd, 4th, and 5th. (There was only one entire class that did 3-4-5, haha. That took skill.)

2. I moved before middle school (for a better district, apparently). Someone who’d been a close friend in elementary also moved there…but he immediately joined the skater/popular kid group that I always had sharp exchanges with and never spoke to me again, so I felt immensely betrayed.

3. I have a family friends group, aka our parents were all Chinese immigrants. But my parents are way more liberal than the other parents, we lived at least 45-60 mins away (whereas everyone else was within 15 minutes of each other), and I was the kid who wasn’t forced to play the piano (I asked, haha) or SAT prep or kumon/math shit. I always felt like the outcast cousin whereas they were all like family to each other.

4. I got bullied by said group. As a kid I think I cried before every gathering and asked if I could stay home, even though I was nervous about being in the house alone for what’d probably be 4-7 hours. My parents always vetoed.

5. I lived in cookie-cutter suburbia (when I lived in the U.S). There was one girl who me and my next door neighbor would play with, who’d always get into fights with us and say she’d never talk to us again…and then she’d ring the doorbell the next day. Plus her mom was a drama queen and the leader of the neighborhood girl scouts troop who stole from said troop, so…idek.

6. Two brothers lived down the street from me, and they exposed me to the beautiful necessity of life otherwise known as video games. (SNES, N64, Sega, etc.)

7. The first video game I owned was Goldeneye 007. At age 7. I dunno what to say, lol. It helped that my dad loved James Bond movies?
