Hm. What about Charleville, Pennsylvania, Jitte (separately) dealing with being taken away from their abusive master (let's say they commited some crime so the gun was confiscated) and are assigned to a temporary handler till a proper replacement is found. Let's assume, a handler seems downright cold (they are just inexpressive and also want to give the gunboys space)
Charleville
Charleville could somewhat rationalize his previous Master's abuse as a form of "love", but your indifference makes him nervous. The rules for what Master wants have changed, and he doesn't know what to do now that his previous purpose has been ripped away. He's fawning, clingy, and visibly desperate to please— anything to make it stop feeling like he's fucking up just by existing near you.
Pennsylvania
Freedom from the abusive Master is a relief, at least. Even if the rest of this new relationship feels... uneasy, Pennsylvania can be happy about that much. He's a bit dismayed by how cold you seem, but it's bearable. Somehow, it'll be bearable. There's always time for you to warm up to him, right...? He's hoping that's what will happen, even if the chances of a better relationship feel slim to none right now.
Jitte
The disaster of a previous gun-Master relationship is deeply distressing whenever he lets himself think about it for too long, but... that's over now, right? And justice came through! Surely, you'll be kinder than his last Master was. He can prove himself to be useful to you and earn better treatment than before. He's trying to stay hopeful, despite the lingering fear of messing up all over again.
