So I was thinking just kinda. Generally about Joseph in Star Swap, specifically the first couple days he's in Italy and

what if Joseph managed to get his hands on a pair of clackers.

Maybe he managed to find someone selling them, maybe he made them himself, but I just think it would be funny if Joseph had access to a non-traditional weapon to scare the shit out of people with, specifically the Bucci Gang

because like. Imagine

Joseph would mostly use the clackers as a stim by the time he got them. He was mostly safe and didn't have to deal with any trouble, so he mostly did little tricks to keep both his hands and the tourists' eyes busy. And when he first joins the group, they all assume it's a stim thing. Sure he can do some neat tricks, but the things lack a certain amount of..... intimidation for them to think Joseph was being serious when he said he used them as weapons

And when Joseph goes off to Capri..... they were a bit worried, not gonna lie, even more so when they learn that according to Abbaccio and Bucciarati, the kid doesn't have a Stand and is essentially going to be going in blind and "helpless"

then they arrive in Capri, Joseph waiting for them by the docks without a hair out of place and a big grin. He says he dealt with the attacker without much trouble, but admits he's not too sure what to do about the body

And out of everything....... they were NOT expecting to see massive gouges in the body the exact same shape and size as Joseph's clackers

But then also rewinding a bit and clackers aside, I was also having thoughts about how Joseph ended up joining the team

So like I said, his first week in Future Italy mostly goes by without issue and is just him. Adjusting to Giorno's body and life, plus starting to make plans to get to Venice and Air Supplena to try and get help

Then Luca happens and Joseph is....... not thrilled, honestly. He'd been doing his best to stay off anyone's radar, and getting the fucking mafia's attention was definitely not "off the radar." Luca would probably still die, and I can honestly see it as a 50/50 split between what gets used to do the deed, being either Hamon Infused Clackers or a Hamon Infused Shovel. And the whole reason it even escalated to that point is simply because he can't risk Luca putting Giorno in danger in the future or coming back with friends

so he bolts…….. and not even an hour later Bucciarati is on his tail

and that fight...... ho boy does it get interesting :)

because at this point Joseph is completely unable to see Stands. He's dealt with enough Hamon And Pillarmen shit to not be completely thrown off, but it's still really fucking confusing what’s going on this isn’t Hamon-

So using a very conveniently open zipper, he employs the Joestar Secret Technique to get some distance and come up with a plan. I’m not too sure about the specifics, but he does end up managing to get the drop on Bucciarati and knocks him out with some Hamon to the brain and drags the man’s body somewhere out of sight

and then cue The Freak Out

because oh fuck oh shit oh no no no this is so much worse than before they know who he is they’re probably going to track him down he’s just put Giorno and himself in so much more danger shit fuck god damnit he probably just made it worse by attacking this guy he really should’ve been more careful with Luca fuck shit fuck fuck fuck-

And Bucciarati……. well, for one he wasn’t expecting to wake up at all after Joseph got the drop on him, but second he wasn’t expecting to wake up to see the kid who just beat him panic pacing and talking to himself about what the hell he should do. Naturally Joseph gets on guard when he realizes Bucciarati's awake...... but now the small bit of guilt that had been gnawing on him has grown to an almost blinding degree

He can't help but see a child when he looks at "Giorno." He's still a tad roughed up from his fight with Luca (which wasn't nearly as easy as it was in canon), and he's just so..... small. He doesn't look comfortable in his skin, he twitches whenever Bucciarati says his name, and more than anything he looks like he's desperately trying to keep things together

Bucciarati asks him a question or two. About his family (he's alone), what he'd like to be called (Jojo, not Giorno), how long he'd been able to use his lightning (his whole life). He speaks easily and with a smile (it's a front, he's terrified) and speaks surprisingly easily for someone who just took down two mafia members within hours of each other (another front, he's incredibly skilled at steering the conversation and too used to combat to be a civilian).

and well...... Joseph wasn't lying and Bucciarati isn't necessarily wrong about his observations, he just manages to draw incorrect conclusions and....... he'd always been a bleeding heart

Bucciarati offers to look the other way about this little incident

Joseph thinks it's bullshit because he may be stupid but he's not an idiot. Granny didn't raise no fool and he's spent way too much time around slimy rich jerks to know that someone's word without anything backing it is worth exactly jack shit

So Bucciarati makes a second offer. The kid has skills, he can't deny that much, and given that Bucciarati thinks he has a Stand, he figured it's only a matter of time before he runs into more Users again, and next time he doubts they’ll be as forgiving. So in return for keeping what he did to Luca and himself secret, what if Bucciarati offers Joseph a place on his team

And Joseph....... Joseph thinks long and hard about this. Because on one hand, this is dangerous. It's quite literally stepping into the lion's den and he's not sure if he's going to be able to get out. Or rather, he’s not sure if Giorno is going to be able to get out

But at the same time....... he really doesn't think he has a choice here. He doesn't trust Bucciarati, nor does he believe that the man genuinely would keep this secret and not use it as leverage later down the line. It's either this or what little can be salvaged of Giorno's life goes down the drain and he has to somehow escape the mafia that according to the whispers he's heard have complete control over the Italian underground

but he doesn't let it show. One of the first rules about being backed into a corner is don't let your opponent know you've been backed into a corner. That just gives them even more power over you

So he asks Bucciarati a question. That if he were to join the team, how easy would it be to get to Venice? There's someone he needs to meet up with, and that if Bucciarati can guarantee he gets there before the week is up, then he's got himself a deal

it was risky, asking Bucciarati of this. The man had FAR more leverage than in this conversation than he did, and had it been anyone else the risk might not have paid off.

But Joseph refuses to look weak and Bucciarati agrees

Part 5 Characters and Fashion Aesthetics

i started thinking about this mainly because i saw one aesthetic that really reminded me of secco but i didn’t want to put him in the la squadra post so here we are ✨ (i will do the bucci gang eventually i promise ahhh). also i want to say i’m not trying to make any of these moodboards look exactly like what they wear nor do i mean they would wear that exact thing, it’s more for the general idea, though maybe some of the outfits would look good on the characters! (now i’ve almost finished this post i see tiziano and squalo could probably share either of the styles i assigned them but anyway on with the post).

okay honestly the first thing that came to mind was like scene or emo, especially with green day being his stand and the green hair he’s got going on

bright colours, also black too

stripes and other sorts of patterns (lots of animal prints especially in the hair lmao)

layered belts and accessories and those big ass knee high converse (which i desperately wanted when i was younger and still do </3 one day i will fulfil my emo dreams lmao)

bracelets and those armband things and necklaces made of ring pulls from monster cans

also most of the outfits i seen ran along a kind of neutral colour palette like beiges and creams and stuff with some green tones. earthy tones i guess? idk this aesthetic is kind of weird to me it just looks like something he would wear though lmao
