On the John Muir Trail
We’re heading out to go hang out along the 395 for a few days before heading up to Tahoe and Reno for the weekend. Super stoked.

JMT Plans
It looks like I won’t be able to do the whole JMT this year (again) due to the amount of time off from work I would need and the fact that no one I trust could watch Aayla for that long.
So I’m changing my plans. Instead I’m going to be taking Aayla on the section of the JMT that is dog friendly. 10 days, roughly 100 miles. June Lake to Bishop. To top it off, after talking with some people about long distance hiking with a dog, I have someone that seriously wants to join me with her dog. I suggested she join us as a joke, but she took it serious and immediately jumped on planning.
She hasn’t backpacked before, but is willing to go through some intensive conditioning for her and the dog to be ready for it. She already hikes a bunch and is in great shape. I’ve tried to test her by warning her of all the scary stuff (bears, thunder storms, isolation, insects, altitude sickness, no cell service, pooping in a cat hole for days on end...) and she doesn’t sound bothered. Its either going to be great introducing someone to the Sierras and backpacking, or its going to suck.
Also have to say that the hiking community is just fucking amazing. I posted on some FB groups about how I would get two girls and two dogs from Bishop to June Lake back to the car. I was thinking busses and shuttles. Someone just volunteered to take us, and wants to buy us a dinner. What?!?? Thats amazing, people are just great.
