One of the best synth album ever recorded, still sound fresh and modern in 2017! A true masterpiece!

The pop juggernauts of the 80's tended to have a strong grip on their music, since most of them worked in several configurations before the popularity of synthpop. The Human League might be one of the most intriguing cases of that, because the band's early work feel like a dark garage version of what they did later on. Thus, Dare, the album that made them, does break with their past, though one must admit they didn't really shake that off. They took the lessons from the previous version of the group, but they applied them to a different structure. However, the old variant of the collective lurked around, you can tell by some of the themes they continued to discuss and also by the fact their greatest hit is actually a tune about an obsession.

The Human League - Mirror Man (1982)
"And if it seems
I'm not the one you used to know -
Our little friendship
Left behind, not long ago -
Don't feel too hurt,
As distance heals the strongest pain.
Things are much better now
And just the nagging doubt remains!
You know I'll change,
If change is what you require;
Your every wish,
Your every dream, hope, desire!"
