“My heart goes out to you anybody who’ve experienced trauma, we’re here together, we don’t need to let it define us as people, we should just keep that as a little extra price of strength. I really believe that you find strength in the lowest points of your life.”

Tea I'm currently sipping on
Have you ever been out and about, maybe in a café or a nail salon, and spotted a fabulously dressed woman, deeply focused on her laptop, working away with determination? You’ve probably wondered: What does she do for a living that lets her look so amazing while working so hard? What could she be so focused on?
I’m about to tell you what she’s doing: She’s road mapping her way to success.
Yes, she’s planning out the goals and milestones she set for herself months ago, and she’s executing them, one step at a time.
One of my favorite YouTubers, Jo Franco, posted the most insightful video I’ve seen all year. In it, she discusses how to use artificial intelligence (AI) to plan your next three years with precision. While her focus was on leveraging AI for long-term planning, what I really took away from the video was how to apply corporate strategies to achieve personal goals.
These strategies can be used for literally any goal—whether it's quitting your day job to turn your side hustle into a full-time career, finally passing your driving test, or learning a new language. Keep in mind, once you realize how effective this level of planning is it does become addictive. Hence, why corporate leaders use these strategies to hit their targets and keep their team in line.
In the video, Jo walks through the process of planning out a three-year roadmap for a hypothetical goal-oriented person. While three years might sound like an ambitious commitment, I decided to scale it down to a one-year plan. Using her tips, I wrote down my goals for the upcoming year and detailed my current situation on a Word document. Then, I took that information, copied it into ChatGPT, and asked it to create a simple, efficient roadmap for the year, broken into quarters.
Here’s what I asked for:
Quarterly goals
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Metrics to track my progress
Milestones to measure success along the way
For example, let’s say I’m working on passing my driving test. My plan might look like this:
Quarter 1 (Jan - March):
Study for my driving test for [blank amount] hours per week
Achieve a 60% score on practice tests by the end of March
Quarter 2 (April - June):
Practice on-road driving for [blank amount] hours per week
Achieve an 80% score on practice tests by the end of June
You get the idea. The beauty of this approach is that you can adapt it to fit any goal and timeframe that works for you—just be sure to keep it realistic. If you’re unsure whether you can achieve the goal in your chosen timeframe, you can even ask ChatGPT to assess the likelihood of success given your circumstances. If it suggests you’re unlikely to hit your target, you can adjust the plan accordingly—just like any project in the corporate world.
Quick Glossary (Skip if You Know Your Stuff):
KPIs (Key Performance Indicators): These are metrics that track your performance over time for a specific goal. For example, the average number of hours per week you spend studying for your driving test.
Metrics: These are measurable factors that you use to track progress or success. For example, your score on a practice test.
Quarters: A business term used to describe periods of 3 months (e.g., Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun).
So, the next time you spot someone looking effortlessly stylish while deep in work, just know: She's likely not just working hard—she’s working smart, and she’s mapped out her goals, step by step, with the precision of a corporate strategist.
