you were a fairly cool person by nature. put together. you weren't necessarily thriving, but managing, for sure, and to anyone who knew you less than perfectly, you were pretty damn good at being a professional working class adult. but for some stupid reason unbeknownst to you, you had a kryptonite. there was someone that made you fumble sheets of paper and string words together in a way that not even you could parse, someone who made your palms sweat and heart thump. someone who you were completely capable of being normal around back in high school - friendly, even, in a desk neighbor classmates kind of way - but god, was he always so handsome? or was it just that you had never seen him in a shirt and tie before? maybe it was the way his hair parted just so on his forehead? all of the above, probably. he was been cute in school, but some things just got better with age.

and now here he was, two weeks into working at the same office as you, and all your coworkers had watched their professional colleague revert to a high schooler over some guy. embarrassing. even more embarrassing, though, was that you had gotten yourself cornered in the breakroom, staring at the cup of water in your hands as if looking away would make it to explode, because it was the preferable alternative to gawking at your classmate turned office crush. you jolted when seungkwan cleared his throat, and he laughed lightly, apologizing for startling you when you looked up at him.

"rumor has it," he started, gesturing to the office beyond the breakroom, eyes on the cup clutched between your hands with a smug smile on his face. you felt your heart rising in your throat when his eyes met yours. "i make you nervous."
