I've seen a bunch of people saying that they're scared that it won't become canon, or that they are now doubting the reading, and I've also seen a lot of people respond to that with "Don't! It's gonna happen!" and I would like to take a moment to say that your doubt is valid, and it's ok to have it.

it's ok to have doubt, it's ok if it doesn't become canon, and you can still ship it, and enjoy the reading of the show this fandom has created, and continue to find depths of meaning in this ship even if it doesn't end up being canon.

this ship and reading has meaning to you because it was created by you, and you don't need the duffers, or the actors, or netflix, or anyone to say that you're right to keep finding meaning in it.

The reading, the community, the friends you've made, all of it is still there even if the ship doesn't become canon.

this is YOUR story, no one gets to take that away from you!

I've been thinking a bunch about early career wizard Gale lately, like running on five cups of coffee, an all-nighter, and the deep set knowledge that nothing he ever does will be good enough Gale

Gale who tries so hard to be the best at everything he tires, and views every small failure as a catastrophe

Gale who is plagued with imposter syndrome so bad that even if he does succeed it still feels fake

Gale who can read people like a book, but still feels horrible at socializing, coming away from most interactions questioning if everyone thinks he's strange

Gale who cannot fathom anyone liking him to the point where he will convince himself that any interest, romantic or platonic, is in his own head

Gale who hates to be perceived but longs to be known.

Its so funny to me to see those baking videos where people make old recipes that don't have exact oven temps or measurements for some of the ingredients and it freaks them out because it used to freak me out but then I got a recipe book from 1907 that was assembled by a historical society and it's my favorite thing to cook from because a) 4 ingredient pancakes and b) I have always been a supplementer. A changer. An exchanger. When it comes to recipes.

When I was living on my own for the first time I put cinnamon and apple chunks in my oatmeal cookies instead of raisins and it ruled and I have never looked back.

Don't be afraid of Mrs Learmouth's pancake recipe not having a measurement for Flour. Slap enough flour to make a batter and your good to go. or Mrs Smith's Orange pudding recipe telling you to 'put in the oven to brown' with no other temperature or time instructions slap that baby in at 350 and see what happens. Crank it up to 400 if it's set and not brown yet. These people were cooking and baking on coal and wood fired stoves and sure they got good at it but there was no such thing as an exactly consistent oven in my part of the world in 1907. Let alone an oven that told you how hot it was. Hell, every oven is different /today/

Also this book has a recipe for essentially just meatloaf but it's called BEEF SHAPE and of course because the recipe was written before tomato Ketchup was a ubiquitous thing it calls for a homemade tomato sauce which you are then instructed to "Pour over shape after it is on platter'. (Thank you Mrs Waugh for this absolute treat)
