The Way to Their Hearts – Jo1 – Kinjo Sukai
Warning: Rape (NSFW)
If you have ever been a victim of rape, it was not your fault, you are not to blame, and please, please report it. Do not let them do the same thing to someone else.
It was the worst day of your life. It started out as normal as any other day, you got up, went to class, went to work on campus at the coffee shop, got off work at six that evening and went back to your apartment to get changed for a date with your boyfriend, Jigoku Ankoku. The date was just like the others you had been on, he picked you up, knocking on your door and patiently waiting for you. He opened the car door for you and reminded you to wait for him to open it again when you got to the restaurant. He pulled out your chair, smiled when you ordered your usual chicken, even when he took you to a steak house. Once dinner was over you went for a drive up to a lookout just to sit and talk looking at the city below. At least that is what you thought was going to happen. You had been going out for about a month, and he was tired of waiting for you to put out. Ankoku had spent a lot of money on your dates and had yet to receive what he wanted in return, so that night, he took what he wanted.
You had worn a dress, it was a warm day, and it was a dress that Ankoku had said was his favorite. What he didn’t tell you was that he liked it because it was low cut showing off your cleavage, and it was a light, pleated skirt that the wind would catch giving him a peak at what you were wearing underneath. Quite frankly, it gave him glimpses of what he was missing out on, and he was tired of you holding out on him. His neighbor that he had benefits with was out of town, so he hadn’t gotten laid since last week, and he was sporting a serious case of blue balls.
Ankoku talked you into getting in the back seat saying it was so you could sit closer together. He knew he had to start slow, some kisses, hand holding, but he started to get impatient. Before you knew what was going on, he was on top of you, hand on your throat, your dress ripped, the cups of your bra worthless as your breasts bounced with every thrust. He had said multiple times by now that he didn’t believe you wanted him to stop, why would you be so wet if you wanted him to stop. At your cry of pain, he looked down and saw blood, then started to laugh. You had told him you were a virgin, but he didn’t believe it, until now. He said he wasn’t going to pull out, that he was going to fill you to the brim, because he stupidly thought virgins couldn’t get pregnant. Once he was done, he watched as his cum, your juices and blood mixed and spilled out of you onto the black cloth seat.
He moved back to the front, fixing his pants as he went, leaving you sniffling and tears pouring down your cheeks. Once he got to your apartment, he got out and came around opening the door for you, just like he always did, but instead of the quick kiss and promise to wait and make sure you got in before he left, he slapped your ass and told you to learn to enjoy it, that it would be happening again. You were glad Ankoku didn’t wait for you to get in your apartment before you left. After you watched his car turn the corner, you started in the direction of the twenty-four-hour clinic that was just a block over. You wanted a shower, god you really wanted a shower, but you knew that was the last thing you needed to do if you wanted Ankoku to pay for what he had done.
You walked through the automatic doors, right to the receptionist, a blank look on your face and flat tone to your voice as you said, “I was just raped.”
Six week later and Ankoku is in jail, apparently, he had been on parole for another rape charge, so he was now back in jail finishing that sentence and awaiting sentencing for your rape. He pleaded guilty, he didn’t really have a choice, his lawyer told him, with all the evidence the police had and his prior conviction, if it went to trial, he would probably serve the max sentence, with no possibility of parole. You were on your bathroom floor crying your eyes out, two positive pregnancy tests sitting on your vanity. After about twenty minutes, you got up and started your normal routine, you had a lot of thinking to do, and a big decision to make.
That afternoon you were at your therapy appointment, something Ankoku was having to pay for, and you showed her the pregnancy test. “Well, Y/N, what do you want to do?”
“I want to keep the baby.” It wasn’t in you to run away, and you couldn’t bring yourself to end the pregnancy. No, it wasn’t the way you wanted to become a mom, but it’s the hand life delt you. You were going to be the greatest mom of all time.
Kinjo Sukai was one of the young men chosen to be on season one of Produce 101 Japan, and it was shortly after being selected, that his Link kicked in. On that day, Sukai was instantly worried about his soulmate. He had been eating some gyoza he had brought back with him after visiting his grandmother, and he tasted what he could only believe was vomit. He had been so shocked, he stopped eating, putting the last of it away, hoping to finish it later, but that didn’t happen. Every time he tried to eat more that day, he would taste the bitterness of his soulmate getting sick. But it wasn’t just the gyoza that got this reaction from his soulmate, it was anything besides bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, and tea. Upon investigation, he found out that this is what people eat when they are having problems with nausea, especially morning sickness.
Just his luck, his soulmate is already married! He had talked about it with several of the guys during the filming of Produce 101 Japan, and while he did get teased about it, most of them tried to keep his hopes up saying that maybe they had been sick, until the weird cravings started. He even called his mom up asking about the pickles and mayo combination. She laughed and told him that was a normal craving when pregnant, but don’t be surprised if he started tasting things like Nutella and bananas. He thought the combination sounded weird, but he was curious, so he tried it one day, and it was surprisingly good. His soulmate must have liked it too, not thirty minutes later, he was tasting it during dance practice.
He got worried when one day he hadn’t tasted anything. He did the math, and it was getting close to his soulmates due date. After yet another call to his mom, and quick internet search, he was sure that today was the day his soulmate was giving birth. It didn’t help that it was two days before the final show, and the final voting.
Sato Raira had found him that afternoon pacing, “Sukai, come on, we’re starting up again.”
“I don’t know if I can.” Sukai had reached the end of the hall and turned around, going back the other way.
“Hey, come on, we have the finally in two days.” Raira followed Sukai, trying to get him to turn back around and go to the practice room.
Sukai turned on his friend, “AND MY SOULMATE IS HAVING A FUCKING BABY!”
Silence hung in the air. Sukai and Raira stared at each other, when Ren came around the corner looking for them. “What is going on? Why are you two yelling?”
Raira pointed at Sukai, eyes wide, just talking loud enough to be heard, “His soulmate is having a baby.”
“What?!” Ren whipped his head around looking at Sukai who was leaning against the wall, and slowly starting to slide down it.
“My soulmate is having a baby, that isn’t mine, and I’m left wondering what will happen when I find them. Are they married, engaged, with a high school sweetheart? Will the father be around? I am so fucked.” Sukai pulled at his hair, as tears threatened to fall. Practice was forgotten about, and it didn’t take long for the other seven in the group to find their way to the hallway, lending their silent support. Two hours later, the taste of a Sprite entered Sukai’s mouth, and he did cry this time. A baby, his soulmate’s baby, was born. He didn’t know if it was a girl or a boy, but he knew deep in his soul that they had an amazing mom, and one day, he hoped, that they would call him dad.
Jo1 was promoting their latest album, Equinox, and were scheduled to perform in Tokyo. Yonashiro Sho was the only member whose Link had started and had found his soulmate, the lucky bastard. Kinjo Sukai looked on as his leader and friend smiled at his soulmate who was visiting from America, they had already been talking about her finding a job in Japan and moving so they could see each other more often. Sukai couldn’t blame him. He didn’t know what he would do if his soulmate was from another country. Sho had gotten lucky that his soulmate fell right in his lap, figuratively speaking.
“Hey, you, okay?” Ruki bumped his shoulder against Sukai’s getting his attention, “Stop torturing yourself. You’ll find her.”
“Yeah, we all can’t be that lucky.” Sukai said. They all started chatting and were wondering if any of them would get lucky enough to find their soulmates at the meet and great that was about to start.
“I’m not holding my breath,” Takumi smiled and shook his head at Shion who was animatedly talking about the way it would go down, “I bet Sukai’s going to be looking for a kid in the crowd like always.”
“My soulmate is not dumb, she wouldn’t not bring a three, soon to be four, year old to a loud concert.” Sukai immediately defended his soulmate, like he always did.
“Yeah, but this is a small venue, only two hundred tickets, and they were all prizes from local radio stations, so you never know.” Mame smiled at the older man, “Come on, let's go find out.”
“Haruki, slow down!” You couldn’t help but laugh as your three-year-old, oh no, sorry, as you had been reminded of just yesterday, Haruki is your three and a half-year-old son, and he is currently dragging you through the venue where Jo1 was going to be performing. You had watched Produce 101 Japan season two with Haruki, and he had insisted on finding season one and watching it. After the first episode, he was begging you to get on YouTube and play Jo1’s music videos, just one video in, and he was hooked. He was a bigger Jam than you! He always talked you into getting every version of the albums and singles that were released. The amount of photocards he had was crazy! They were organized by album release, and the age of the members.
When the local radio station was advertising tickets to an exclusive concert, and the one they currently had was for two tickets with a meet and great that was only being given out to five callers, the first five to be exact. Before you knew what was happening, Haruki had dialed the radio station, and you were caller number four. Haruki had called in time to win the tickets! It had been hard to scold Haruki for calling when he had gotten you tickets to see your favorite group, especially when it was a week before Haruki’s birthday.
Haruki is often mistaken for being named after the writer Haruki Murakami, but you had named him that because it means shining sun. The worst day of your life had given you something so precious and amazing, that it was hard to stay mad at that ass hat. The last three years had been crazy, but you were now out of school, working as an interior designer for a local firm, and were enjoying every minute of your time with your son. Haruki knew that your Link had started and would often ask what they had been eating, and what you thought they were like. In the later part of 2021, you had become a little concerned as his eating habits had slightly changed. You didn’t know what was going on, but you knew something had happened. You didn’t know what to do, so you just ate things that you thought they liked and hoped that he could feel the support you were giving him.
You were the last ones in line for the meet and greet, trying to get Haruki to stand still for five seconds, but it wasn’t working. He had yet again, syphoned every ounce of energy from you, and was currently bouncing off the walls.
“Momma! What if one of them is your soulmate? That would be so cool!” Haruki said as he made yet another circle around you.
“Sweetheart, I doubt that any of them are my soulmate. My soulmate is probably off somewhere working in a cubical living a basic everyday life, just like me.” You smiled at the little boy who was so full of life and energy.
“Nah, that can’t be true. Your soulmate is a handsome guy, who is tall and strong, and would beat up the bad guys.” You couldn’t help but laugh as you watched the little boy act like he was fighting a bad guy, “I’m sure he’s a superhero in disguise!”
Laughter off to the side had the two of you looking over to see that everyone else had gone, and it was just the two of you and the guys from Jo1, along with their manager and a few other people that you assumed were all from the company. “So, your mom’s Link has started huh?”
Sho walked over to Haruki and squatted down to be closer to eyelevel with him, “Yeah, Sho-san! And he’s cool! She hasn’t found him yet, but I just know he’s as cool as all of you!”
All the guys chuckled at the little boy’s enthusiasm. Mame joined Sho, “You know, we have a theory that Sukai’s soulmate has a kid, and I think you’re about the right age.”
“But Mame-san, I thought Sho-san was the only one who had found his soulmate?”
“This kid is smart.” Shion joined the other two, “You are right about that, and the fact that Sukai hasn’t taken his eyes off your mom since he saw her, I’m thinking we need to test if their soulmates.”
At that everyone, including you, looked over at Sukai and saw that Shion was right. Sukai was looking at you, mouth slightly open and eyes unblinking. Syoya waved his hand in Sukai’s face, “Hey, you fall asleep or something?”
“Huh?” Sukai snapped out of it and knocked down Syoya’s hand, “Stop it.”
“Okay let's check this out.” Syoya said, and the guys sprang into action.
Your head was spinning at how fast the guys had you and Sukai blindfolded and standing back-to-back.
“I’m glad you guys weren’t as prepared when Sho and I found each other,” a feminine voice said off to your right, “I don’t know if I could have handled the blindfold.”
“We learned from that. Now one of us in in charge of the food and blind fold when we go out.” Shosei answered the person whom you realized was Sho’s soulmate.
“Usually me.” Syoya again.
“Because you always have food on you.” Ren, you would recognize his voice anywhere. He had been your bias when Produce was airing, but as the years have gone by, you had changed lanes to Sukai. You weren’t sure why, but something just kept pulling you to him. It had started when the episode where Sukai had fulfilled his debut pledge on Jo1 House had aired. You hoped and prayed that your soulmate was like that, Sukai had set the bar seriously high on how a husband and father should act that day.
“This is so cool!” Haruki’s excited voice earned some chuckles from everyone.
“Well, ladies first.” Ruki said as he handed you a plate.
You took the plate, and lightly touched around on it, finding a lone potato chip. You picked it up and sniffed, thinking that you smelled a barbeque chip. “Here goes nothing.”
Sukai was having a hard time with the anticipation of you taking a bite. He had watched Sho go through this, and he, like everyone else, had dreamed of the day he would meet his soulmate, but he never thought he would find them at a concert. Just as his ears registered a crunch, the taste of barbeque chips entered his mouth. “Who picked barbeque?”
“Oh my god! Oh my god! Momma!”
“Settle down Haruki, it could just be a coincidence.”
“But that’s why Sukai is about to have a bite to eat.”
Sukai took a plate from Junki, and found a single bite of apple, “You literally mean a bite.” He picked it up and put it in his mouth, hoping that you would answer.
As the sweet taste of the apple entered your mouth, you let out a little gasp and covered your mouth. You prayed that this was the real thing, “Please tell me that one bite was a bite of apple.”
Sukai swallowed his bite of what had just become his favorite fruit, “Yeah.”
Haruki started jumping and cheering, “My momma’s soulmate is in Jo1! This is so cool! Momma, isn’t this cool?!” He stopped in front of Sukai and pulled on his sleeve, getting the older man’s attention, “Sukai-san, can I call you Dad?”
Sukai’s eyes went wide, he had dreamed of the day he would be called Dad. Growing up in a single parent household, had showed him exactly what a single mom went through to support her family. He would often help with his younger siblings when his mother had to work late or when they were out of school. The long nights of her doing the household chores, getting up early the next morning and fixing their breakfast and lunches. A parent’s work was never done, and he knew that all too well.
“Haruki!” You were pulling your son back to your side, “I am so sorry Kinjo-san, he got a little carried away with the excite...”
“He can call me Dad if he wants.” Sukai cut you off. His eyes started to water as a smile spread across his face and reached up to his eyes. He sat down on his knees and bowed slightly in front of Haruki, “I would be honored if you would call me Dad.”
“Are, are you sure?” You asked, worried about how others would react.
“I’m sure,” Sukai stood back up and smiled at you.
“Okay, Haruki, if you’re going to be hanging out with us, we need to get to know each other.” Junki came over and held his hand out to the little boy, “What’s your favorite game?”
Haruki took his hand “Hide and seek! Momma says I’m the best at it, Junki-san.”
“Oh, I bet you won't be able to find all of us.” Keigo joked as he ruffled the boy’s hair.
“You would probably be easy to find Keigo-san, you’re too tall to fit in the best hiding spots.”
This earned a laugh from everyone in the group. You watched as the lead your son away, a worried expression on your face, “He’ll be okay, I promise.”
You looked up at Sukai, “I know, you’re all really, good people. It’s just been the two of us since he was born, so I tend to be a little overprotective.”
“That’s a good thing.” Sukai took your hand and lead you over to a sofa that was tucked off to the side, “I don’t mean to pry, but is his father around?”
“No.” You had answered that question more than once in your life, and you knew your soulmate would ask about it too, he deserved the truth, “It’s a long story, one I don’t really want to tell right now. Soon though, I promise I’ll tell you.”
Sukai liked the sound of that. It meant that you would be seeing each other again. You talked for a few minutes before the guys returned carrying Haruki on their shoulders declaring him the king of hide and seek. Before the guys had to go on stage you and Sukai exchanged contact information and you promised to wait until the concert was over to talk some more.
As the weeks turned into months, you and Sukai talked and grew closer together, and you had finally told Sukai about what had happened between you and your ex-boyfriend the night that Haruki was conceived. Sukai had seen red. He wanted to go to the prison and beat the crap out of Jigoku Ankoku for what he did. But at the same time, he found himself wanting to thank the son of a bitch, because if hadn’t done that, Haruki wouldn’t be here. It was confusing, but he supposed he could shake his hand, then punch him. But then you would remind Sukai that with him having a blackbelt in karate, he was a walking lethal weapon, he could get into serious trouble for just a single punch. Especially since there are a ton of videos out there that show Sukai kicking and breaking a baseball bat.
It had been a year since you and Sukai had found each other, and he was currently out with Haruki at karate lessons, you had just gotten off work and were walking out of your office building when out of nowhere Mame appeared with a note. “Here, I was asked to give you this.”
“What is this? Are we back in middle school or something?” You took the note and read it, “Seriously?”
“I’m just the messenger.” Mame held his hands up like he wanted nothing to do with what was going on. In a way that was true, but he also wanted to see what was going to happen.
You were told to go to your favorite coffee shop for a pick-me-up, and while you were hoping to find Sukai and Haruki there, you found Shosei instead. He had an iced Americano in his hand, along with another note. “Here you go.”
You read the note then asked, “Dear lord, how many places am I going?”
“They’re all close, the next one is only a few blocks away.” Shosei smiled at you as you rolled your eyes. As soon as you left, he grabbed his tea and headed to your final stop. He couldn’t wait to see your reaction.
One by one, you found every member of Jo1 except the one you wanted to find. At your latest destination, an art museum where you and Sukai had gone to the night he officially asked you to be his girlfriend, you found Ren and Ruki. “Okay, you two, spill it. What’s going on?” You did a double take as you could have sworn you saw Sho and Keigo darting into the museum. “Please tell me I’m done walking.”
“Just one more place to go.” Ren handed you another note.
“We promise this is the last stop.” Ruki handed you a red rose; you now had six as Shion, Sho, Junki, Syoya, and Takumi had also given you a rose with your notes.
You walked in and were greeted by the attendant who gave you a ticket, and then pointed you in the direction of the display cases. You heard the door open and what sounded like Ren laughing, you were curious as to what was going on, but when you looked back, they were already gone. You sighed and when into the museum. You didn’t look at any of the paintings, you just walked through to where the gift shop and small café were. Once you got to that area, you heard music coming from the closed doors to the café but as you drew near, they were opened by Mame and Junki, who had changed into suits and ties.
As you entered and looked up, you stopped dead in your tracks. All eleven members of Jo1 were there in suits and ties, along with your son. He looked so grown up, matching Sukai perfectly, all the way down to the way they were standing. You smiled nervously as you drew closer to Sukai and Haruki. “What is all of this for?”
“Dad needs to ask you a question.” Haruki giggled, “Say yes!”
As the guys let out a mixture of groans and chuckles, you couldn’t help but smile as Sukai started to blush, “Say yes to what?” Oh, you had a good idea what was about to happen, you just wanted to see how red you could make Sukai.
Sukai straightened his tie and cleared his throat, “Y/N, you are one of the most amazing women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and the fact that you’re my soulmate, I am constantly thinking that I’m dreaming and that I never want to wake up from that dream.” Sukai had a longer speech prepared, but when he looked at you, those words flew out of his mind, “I love you.”
You giggled at him, “I love you, too.”
“What?” you tilted your head and smiled at Sukai.
He took the ring box out of his pocket and dropped to one knee, “L/N Y/N, will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”
Everyone laughed at Haruki, but you had to ask your son a question, “Did he ask you if he could marry me?”
“Yep, I said yes, but he better not make you cry.” Haruki crossed his arms and glared at Sukai, who just smiled and shook his head, then playfully glared at the little boy.
You leaned over and took Sukai’s face in your hands, making him look back at you. “My Sukai, I would be honored to become your wife.”
The guys of Jo1 and the museum staff all cheered, a few confetti poppers going off around you, as you kissed Sukai on the lips after he slid the ring on your finger. Sukai stood up and hugged you twirling you both around making you laugh. That day had become one of the best days of your life, only superseded by the day you finally got to hold Haruki in your arms, your wedding day, and the day you watched Sukai hold his little girl in his arms for the first time. It wasn’t a traditional family, but it was your family, and you wouldn’t trade them for the world.
