49 - secret kisses

Jode's awareness had narrowed down to a handful of points. There was the metal of the locker at her back. There was her heartbeat, thrumming in her ears. And there was Rush - his hands on her waist pressing her back, his lips pressing hard into hers.

Rush kissed her like it was a life or death matter. It made her skittish, sometimes. Other times... well, there was something to be said for distractions. His breath was hot, hotter than any human she'd been with, and he wasn't terribly careful about his sharp teeth, and she didn't mind.

"Guys, come on." They broke apart, breathing hard. Jode turned to see Qais in the locker room door, pinching the bridge of their nose. "We need to field."

Rush didn't move, didn't even turn their way. "Sure thing, cap." He leaned back in indulgently, kissing her again, only then stepping back. Then he turned, walking out past Qais without a glance back at her.

Jode leaned back against the locker for a second, willing down her blush. Then, she turned to follow him, avoiding Qais's eyes.

30: “Is that blood?”

The moment she sees him, Jode feels the urge to walk the fuck out kf the dugout rather than deal with this situation. Sadly, she has to play blaseball instead, and Rush isn’t likely to leave her alone. She rubs at the bridge of her nose. “Is that blood?”

Rush looks down at his hand, adopting a theatrical look of surprise. “How did that get there?”

The raccoon is circling his legs. Rush reaches down to it and it meets him halfway, grabbing his hand in its paws and licking the gore off of it. Jode grimaces - a pained noise works its way out of the back of her throat. He raises his eyebrows, smiling as he makes to pull his hand away. “What, do you want some-?”

“That’s disgusting. You’re a fucking animal.”

He smiles serenely. “You say the sweetest things to me.”

“Choke.”

“Mmmm, that’s the stuff.” She glares. He pulls his hand up, grinning at her. “All clean!”

Jode scoffs. “Should I even ask?”

“Well, it’s a pretty fun story, so…” He winks. “Maybe not in public.”

Okay, fuck this. Jode stands and walks off without a word, Rush still laughing behind her as she goes.
