I think I'm gonna start keeping track of all the episodes when Ben is like "No, don't follow me/them/him" when it's clearly the stupidest decision and the only reason that someone doesn't die is because of plot armor.
Today's example: S01E24 The Stranger
Adam's says (paraphrased): "We'll ride with you to New Orleans, surely Laduque can't have anything against that.
Ben: "Well he does, I gave him my word I would go with him alone."
Adam: *shakes Ben's hand and just lets his pa walk out with some dude who literally just perjured himself*
What Adam should have said: "Tough shit, I didn't give him my word and you don't speak for me"
or
"Okay Pa." *and proceeds to ignore Ben and the three of them follow Ben and Laduque as soon as Clem the sheriff lets Joe out of jail.*
Like I can literally see Hoss and Adam just rolls their eyes at each other as Laduque and Ben are riding away, go in to get Joe, and the three of 'em just follows them right out of town.
There have been so many other examples, but I can't think of them, but I think I'm gonna keep updating this thread as I come across them.

They really did. The saloon owner started putting the bottles away anytime the boys came riding into town.
And the best part is that not even the even-tempered ones are safe. Ben and Adam cause their fair share of shenanigans—it's not just Little Joe!
Rewatched the pilot for Bonanza (A Rose For Lotta) a while back, drew these as I watched. Love the oldest/youngest brother dynamic so much.
