Remember Trayvon Martin

News about a 17 year old named Trayvon Martin who was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman on Feb. 28 is spreading all over the nation like wildfire. Martin simply carrying a pack of skittles and an iced tea,  was walking back to his fathers house in Sanford, FL when Zimmerman 28, was patrolling the neighborhood when he saw Martin. He then called the police to report a "suspicious" person walking the streets. The dispatcher told Zimmerman to stay away but Zimmermen ignored the directions and started to follow Martin. 

Moments Later, Zimmerman says he got into a confrontation with Martin. Ultimately shooting the unarmed teenager and killing him.

Zimmerman was released and has not been charged in the shooting claiming it was in self-defense. 

National and Civil right leaders believe Martin was in danger simply because he was African American and walking alone at night.

Its sad to see something like this go down, especially in our home state of Florida. But it is great to see so many artists and people showing their support to Trayvon Martin's family. Above is a photograph by artist Joe Iurato, in honor of the teenagers life.
