This is incredible, absolutely incredible. A collection of different horror comics, but still connected by an overarching theme. All the stories revolve around food…or consumption(?) at the very least.

A table of chefs sit around eating and take turns telling ghost stories. Kinda cool, and unique. Real unique. If you have a chance to check it out go for it, for mature readers only.

I like this page as it appears to be a neat homage to Saul Bass. It clearly references the poster to Anatomy of a Murder (last referenced, as far as I can recall, in the poster to Spike Lee’s Clockers). The stylistically fragmented body mirrors the violence in the story as it evokes dismemberment, although there is no actual limb severing going on in any of the body parts/panels.

But, more importantly, it makes me think of an amazing graphic designer, responsible for some amazing title sequences in a wide range of films (The Man With The Golden Arm in the 50s all the way through to Casino in the mid 90s) and some damn fine posters that merit being called ‘iconic’. Maybe it’s also a reminder that the best comic art seeks inspiration from outside comics as much as within- it’s all well and good wanting to be the next X, but if you really want to stand out, there’s a whole world beyond comics that can be used for inspiration.
