Joel Sternfeld, cut the crap
Born in 1944 in New York, Sternfeld is an american photographer who contributes to establish color photography as a respected artistic medium.
Through his images, America is laid bare, as if its superficiality had been taken away. He is one of these photographers who freeze the spirit of places, far from the glitter and streamers that we often associate with this land fantasized with possibilities. A social look which focuses on people, how they live and traces they leave all around, from architectures to constructions of all kind that deeply mark the territory.
His work testifies with sense and insight of the many inconsistencies United-States are wrapped in, inherent to a superpowerful and yet, fragile nation. A street photographer who has been helping for many years to understand all the complexity of a country with a shaken history, with all due respect to the most skeptical.
