JOEVEMBER DAY 31: William “The Fridge” Perry! To say this was my one of my favorite toys, would be understatement! The Fridge was available via mail order from Hasbro Direct in 1987, but since the promotions took place in 1986, some fans group The Fridge under that year. I always wanted stuff like this and my mom was never a fan of mail order but this one time, she made an exception! I dig that figure so much! More on him: G.I. Joe is the most elite team in the world and the military's top brass has decided that only the best of the best can only get into that team. To that end, they have recruited the best physical training instructor they could find. If the recruits can't pass through the Fridge, they're not good enough. You have to understand at that time THE FRIDGE was huge! In the 80s he was awesome and 86!they won the Super bowl and they did Super Bowl shuffle so to have a GIJOE OF THEM?!? Broooo. YAY CHILDHOOD! JOEVEMBER DAY 30: QUICK KICK! Dude this guy was soooo cool! Check it: “Quick Kick's Japanese father and Korean mother owned a grocery store in Watts. He found difficulty being accepted by either the Japanese or Korean community because of his mixed heritage. Quick Kick also has a passion for basketball, but was always turned down because of his height. Therefore, he turned to martial arts, and has earned black belts in Tae Kwon Do, Goju Ryu, Judo, Southern Praying Mantis Kung-Fu, Tai-Chi Sword, Zen Sword and Wing-Chun fighting arts. He later worked in Hollywood as a stuntman, where the U.S. Army noticed his skills and recruited him for the elite Rangers. After the Army he went on to join the G.I. Joe Team. JOEVEMBER DAY 26: GRID IRON Okay before you gob”huh?!?” Ot this bear with me on the story of this ridiculous Joe: “Football jocks are said to be a likable lot. They have a natural gift to cause camaraderie. Captain Grid-Iron is a likable fellow at first. He gave up a position in the War College just so he could serve in the field. That alone should have endeared him to his men. What is wrong, though, is that he tries too hard to be likable that he soon becomes an annoyance to his teammates. The fact that he likes to do John Wayne impressions does not seem to help any. When it comes time for fighting, then that's the time they'll follow his charge, without question. He shows that his is true courage and no mere bravado. Grid-Iron was quarterback for the West Point football team. He graduated in the top ten of his class. He passed up an appointment to the U.S. Army War college, for a conventional infantry command at the company level. His determination to be "where the action is" brought him to the attention of G.I. Joe. According to his file card, his personality is grating, but tolerable. The other Joes think if he would stop trying so hard to be likable, "they might let him play quarterback at the annual G.I. JOEVEMBER DAY 23: DESTRO This character was always cool. I JD the figure but it was a trade for some GPK cards I had with some others but was all sorts of messed up. Still he looks cool with a rifle in his hand so playability was all tome high. His background is sort of cool too: “Destro is one of the most cunning foes the Joe Team has ever faced. He is the power behind M.A.R.S. (Military Armament Research Syndicate), one of the largest manufacturer of state-of-the-art weaponries. His business is fueled by inciting unstable countries to wage wars against each other and then getting them to purchase weapons from him. To him, war is simply man's expression of his most natural state. It is the perfect example of where the fittest survive and where many technological advances are made. His biggest client, thus far, is Cobra with whom he maintains an alliance of convenience. Despite being a manipulative person, Destro maintains a sense of honor and actually respects the Joe Team for their skills and expertise, if not their motivation. The silver mask Destro wears is his most distinctive feature. It is forged from Beryllium steel. For centuries, the Destro clan designed and sold weapons. In an incident dating back to the English Civil War, an ancestor of his was caught selling weapons to both sides. He was forced to wear a steel mask for his crimes (neither side were willing to execute him because they still wanted his weapons). Rather than taking it as a sign of shame, the Destro clan turned it into a symbol of pride. JOEVEMBER DAY 16: DOCTOR MINDBENDER! I love how this is the science nerd guy of Cobra and he’s RIPPED! Remind of the old guys in the gym who are rounded out, but recently, so it looks like an old guy riding a Mech made of muscle. Like a science guy? Oh shit: “Dr. Bender was at one time a peace-loving orthodontist. He built a machine to relieve dental pain, using electric brainwave stimulation. Unfortunately he tested it on himself, and when it went haywire, he became hateful, deceitful, and vain. Though experiencing brain damage, he retained his sense of scientific skill and intellect, unfortunately choosing to use it for the purposes of evil. Dr. Mindbender abandoned his practice and joined forces with Cobra, devoting all his time to perfecting his digital brain-scrambling.
