Imagine you’re the Queen of England. Imagine you have initiated a controversial yet world famous author into knighthood. Imagine that you learn after the fact that, in order to symbolically express his character’s desire to abandon his Indian heritage and assimilate fully into White-English society, this author depicts this character as making vigorous love to you in a dream.

When people imagine God or any god in general, they think of an overpowered emotionless ruler. Let me tell you you are in the wrong, especially when it comes to Him. Shortest Bible verse and one that strikes hard, because just like you and me he feels. Consider that next time you yell at him for being unjust because of how your life is going. He has a purpose for everything, you just don't see the rainbiw right now and are going through the storm.

This church nativity installation of the Claremont United Methodist Church is really, really upsetting the right people (aka Evangelicals and MAGA CHUDS).

Senior minister Karen Clark Ristine via Facebook:

“The theological statement posted with the nativity: In a time in our country when refugee families seek asylum at our borders and are unwillingly separated from one another, we consider the most well-known refugee family in the world,” she wrote. “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, the Holy Family. Shortly after the birth of Jesus, Joseph and Mary were forced to flee with their young son from Nazareth to Egypt to escape King Herod, a tyrant. They feared persecution and death.”

She went on to ask what would likely happen to the Holy family if they sought refuge in the United States today.

“Imagine Joseph and Mary separated at the border and Jesus no older than two taken from his mother and placed behind the fences of a Border Patrol detention center as more than 5,500 children have been the past three years,” she continued. “Jesus grew up to teach us kindness and mercy and a radical welcome of all people.”

Kids abused, lost forever from family and dying of flu on concrete floors in cages and the ‘good and righteous’ folk are upset about some statues. Jesus wept.
