The animated series Star Trek Lower Decks premiered on Aug 6, 2020. It was the 9th Star Trek series, the first animated series since Star Trek the animated series (1973 - 1975), the first Star Trek comedy series, and the first series to premiere the same year as another Star Trek series (Picard). Production during the first seaaon had to be modified due to Covid. The series events began in the year 2380 and focused on jr officers and what would be normally secondary characters on a Federation Star Fleet ship.
