TREKMATCH! # 278 - TAS's "The Counter-Clock Incident" vs 1984's Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
Famous graverobber and, from what it seems in the opening, general criminal Indiana Jones crashes in "India" with his new sidekick/endangered child Short Round and a basically kidnapped lounge singer. From there the trio decide to save a village from an evil dude who wants to use some evil stones that once belonged to the Hindu god Kali. It's not exactly clear what the dude wants, but it is exactly clear that the whole movie is racist towards India! I mean, what kind of dude is it who, after being denied the right to shoot in India because the government wanted script changes to make it less racist, decides just to shoot in Sri Lanka instead of making said changes? The Steven Spielberg kind I guess!
GRADE: D+
STAR TREK: THE ANIMATED SERIES - "The Counter-Clock Incident"
The Enterprise's first captain and first doctor, Mr. and Mrs. Robert April, are taking a retirement tour of the ship when it goes into a land where time moves backwards. And also really, really fast, I suppose, since all the crew (except said visiting fogies) get turned into babies. Anyway, in a world where people live to be 140 it seems like being forced into retirement at 70 is silly, but at least baby Arex is adorable.
GRADE: C-
Victory to Trek, so Trek is up 141-137!
