In case you missed it, I released a new album of lovely alternative music on May 1st, "Our Lives in Starlight," on Bandcamp! Check it out here: https://johndingofromiowa.bandcamp.com/album/our-lives-in-starlight
To give you a taste of the music and a glimpse behind the scenes, I want to talk about one of my favorite songs from the album, Small Adventures. Lyrically, this is a song about stuffed animals and the unique comfort they can bring. The perspective switches between the animals and their humans as the song moves from the verse to the chorus, showing how close the relationship can be between the imaginer and the imagined friend. On the music side, I wanted to hold onto that soft, close, comfortable atmosphere by trying to emulate a few friends playing folk music in their garage: simple instrumentation, more room noise, limited editing of "mistakes." The previous version of this song had much more production to it, and while it may have been fun to play around with, it just didn't seem right. As it is now, I think it suits the lyrics and the emotional energy perfectly. Take a listen to this and the other songs on my newest album, and tell me what you think! 😊
Audio content fans, open your ears! I've got new stuff for you all!
On the public side, I've got a new 10-minute teaser from an interview I did with @publishinggoblin about art, creativity, and our time at the University of Iowa. This is a conversation you do NOT want to miss, and you can, in fact, listen to the full 45-ish minutes just by chipping in a few dollaridoos per month to my Patreon. Consider it, cuz there's only more good stuff on the way!

A new demo of Brain Fog, with a new sense of direction, some new instrumentation, and new anger.
A new garage-folkier demo of one of my newer songs, "Brain Fog." Enjoy that sweet baritone goodness, and feel just a bit sad. <3
Happy day! I did some recording yesterday, and came up with an early GarageBand'd demo for my newish song, "Brain Fog!" Still stuff to work on here, but I like the bones so far! 💀🖤
An early-ish demo for a song about the after-effects of a global pandemic. Still need to figure out some guitar part stuff and the drums, bu
