he’s too goodnatured ( when there’s no pressure, when the weight of a war’s not looming over his shoulders ) to let impatience get the better of him. he’s content to let the man run his course — besides, the advantage of rambling is that it doesn’t actually require his attention. he can crunch numbers in his head, solve the days problems undisturbed while another talks essentially to themself. though, perhaps, that’s unkind, and certainly it’s impolite.
he has enough awareness of the conversation to key back in to the words, to offer a wry smile. ❛ you and a large portion of the human race. possibly not one of our most evolutionarily sound traits, though I guess it hasn’t done us in yet. though, I’m not sure what’s worth being nervous about. ❜
