Fun fact that I keep mentioning is they were George Washington’s nephews through Martha Washington so it’s not hard to imagine how they got their midshipmen warrants.They attended William and Mary and both brothers served in the First Barbary War. At the time of the War of 1812, unfortunately the only thing I know about them is John was Captain of the Carolina during the Battle of New Orleans while Robert served on the Eagle in Lake Champlain. And they had long, fulfilling careers out on sea-
