After an academic discussion about the ramifications of trying to benefit from time travel, Peter Corrigan has suddenly found himself transported from 1961 back to April 14th, 1865. Corrigan desperately tries to prevent the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. While his efforts are in vain, thanks in part to the intervention of John Wilkes Booth, when Corrigan does return to the present he finds that he has altered the course of time after all.
