A Newcomer Approaches .... John Raimi!
John Raimi
Original Series: Geist
Geist is an often overlooked game with, as is the case with most Nintendo games, an interesting concept. A rare foray into the M-rated world, Nintendo took a risk with Geist. Unfortunately it didn't draw the kind of acclaim it could have. Controls were a little clumsy at times, some things were rushed, and Nintendo didn't exactly have much experience with FPS (though that's only a small part of this game). Geist was really all about being in the ghost form and interacting with the surroundings through scares and possession. I would absolutely love for this game to see a sequel on the Wii U, but I would also love to see Raimi make his way into Smash as an extremely unique fighter.
Raimi will work as a hard to hit character with risky specials. His standard attacks are fairly weak (as they should be -- he's incorporeal). But he's light on his feet as well as hard to launch. He can also float after his second jump, like Peach.
Standard B - Scare ... This move has different effects depending on where it is used. On the ground it will make a manhole cover flip up into the air and back down. In the air it will startle a swarm of bats. Only a direct hit by either of these will damage an opponent. But that's not the main purpose. Anyone in range will become scared and stand in place stunned momentarily. Leaving room for a follow-up. You can also hold B to choose to possess an item you stand next to. Use this to either destroy the item (if it's an explosive or container set it off by releasing B, destroying the item and causing damage to anyone nearby) or keep holding B to turn it into a dud that backfires when another player tries to use it (hammers break or turn squeaky, lip's stick makes a flower bloom on the user's head, ray guns and super scopes shoot backward into the user's face, etc). However, if you're in it for too long Raimi will get kicked out of the item (which vanishes) and take moderate damage. While this can be useful for scaring and damaging players, if they pick up the item and throw it off the edge Raimi will go with it, so don't let yourself get KOed. Doesn't work with certain items, like the smash ball or Dragoon parts. If no possessable items are within range, it will just do the standard scare as if B was just tapped.
Side B - Possess ... Use this move to temporarily take control of an nearby opponent in the direction you indicate. If they are stunned from a scare the possession lasts longer. While possessing another player, your moves use that character's moves. Except for specials - only the Standard B can be used. Using Side, Up, or Down B ends the possession early. The possession can also be ended earlier by the possessed player resisting. While in effect, both Raimi and the possessed take equal damage from any attacks, but Raimi's damage slowly decreases over time while possessing. Any KOs made count toward Raimi's score. If the possessed is KOed, Raimi is too though. This move takes a while to recharge too, so use it strategically.
Up B – Slip-Thru … Raimi turns into a swirling vortex and vanishes into a small hole. He reappears from another small hole one second later, in the direction the player indicates. This one second delay allows for great evasion or counterattacks.
Down B – Explosive Crate … A munitions crate appears and Raimi possesses it. Press the button again to make the crate explode dealing good damage and knockback. Make sure no one else sets it off though. It acts like the explosive box item and reacts to fire attacks or taking excessive damage. If it explodes due to someone else's actions then Raimi will also be damaged and sent flying.
Final Smash – Spec Ops Army … Ghostly Spec Ops troops float around the stage, possessing the other players and making them commit suicide. They can be shaken free just like when Raimi possesses someone, but there's a strong chance they're going to be walked off an edge or into a bob-omb or something. When the Final Smash ends the troops disappear.
