Tropikult artist and NYC based producer N2N teams up with guitarist/producer John Skyfield and UK singer songwriter Kirkby on a madly hooking banger named Some Kind Of Wonderful. It’s an earworm of a composition that blends deep house, nu-disco, piano house, and tropical future into one wildly dashing monster of a tune. There’s even a touch of future funk and a little Spaghetti Western going on in there if we were to try and pick apart all the various components within Some Kind Of Wonderful’s mosaic of bright, prismatic sound. There are several bands and acts I grew up to in the 80′s that I will love forever and ever, and you can count Phil Collins in there as one of them. From his Sussudio to In The Air Tonight, he certainly soundtracked some great, and sometimes very silly moments with my family. When it comes to emotional charge, Phil’s classic In The Air Tonight easily takes the the 80′s cake. Some of you might be too young to remember this song, but you’ll fall for this new rendition of In The Air Tonight, created by two up and comers in the deep tropical house scene, Panski and John Skyfield. Despite its Balearic house tendencies, the remix is nothing like the many trop house jams we’ve been hearing left and right these days. Instead, Panski and John Skyfield gives the song a deliberate pace and some deep and classic moments to accompany its weightless, gentle bounces. The end result is summery, yet ruminative and entrancing.
