I don't think Toews and Kane are tired at all. Kane is heading for a career high point total this season and Toews hit 20 goals last night. Toews is more inconsistent than Kane, definitely, but they're not the problem the Hawks are having the past 2 seasons (terrible trades, salary cap, shitty defense). I totally get it if you personally feel like 8 year contracts are too much to give out to any player (solid opinion!), but I think Toews and Kane aren't the best examples to explain why.

Look, everyone has their own opinions! I do look at their whole career since signing, not just this year. People have hot streaks, people have low streaks, I cannot give solid analysis off of the 2018-19 season. And there are lots of other examples- you are correct! The point I try to make is that they aren’t going to find the depth they need to create a Stanley Cup contending team at the present moment. There are like 10 other teams I would add to that list due to lengthy contracts.

But hey! I’m just a writer! I don’t know everything and opinions are super necessary for positive discourse so I’m always happy to debate!
