As a former assistant of John Glick, and as he was one of my most influential mentors, and as I would not be Editor of SP if not for him, I'm so saddened to learn of his death yesterday. These photos are from his retrospective exhibition at Cranbrook last summer. The following is from his FB page: John Glick, one of the last of a grand generation of full-time studio potters, died suddenly on April 6 of a torn aorta. Known nationally and internationally for his abstract expressionist style with functional ceramics and sculpture, he shared every advancement of his knowledge about clay, photography, studio equipment and related issues throughout his career through his writings, workshops, and 35-year long studio residencies for young ceramic artists. His warmth, fantastic sense of humor, gentleness and giving personality will be missed by all who had the privilege to have crossed his path. #SummerSlamWeekend! What an incredible time it was in #Brooklyn with @_rsk1 and #SlimJimDolly 😎 So much went down in those 3 nights, where do I even start? Well on Saturday we had #NXTTakeover, which was #AWESOME 😆 Ran into @noellefoley & @frankwweclown after the show. Always cool seeing you guys, you two are an inspiration 👫 Got to hang out with my good friends @j.ratchford, @alecsiahmaria, and @godkid_92, as well as my 2 favorite #Canadians @cheekyjac & @carissalaz. They came down to my home turf for the biggest weekend of the summer! And what a set of shows it was! I just wish @wwenxt put on more shows up here in #NYC. Cuz I'd definitely be in attendance if they did! Went #BackToBack like #LethalWeapon🔫, attending #SummerSlam that following Sunday. Maybe the @barclayscenter will be lucky enough to get a multi-year deal like @staplescenterla got for so long? *cough* @wwe *cough* 🙊 The card was #STACKED, but as great as it all was there were even more good times to come after the final bell had rung 🔔 Met #ShockedUndertakerGuy @ellis.mbeh, @wwesbiggestfan #JohnGlick, and some of my fellow #Yonkers fans outside the arena. Even had the honor of being interviewed by @jackieredmond! And the night just got more epic when #TeamChampion left the arena to get some food and drinks at #BrooklynBrewhouse 😁 Got to dine with more wrestlers than I can name in one post. But we respected their space and let them enjoy their night in peace. Somehow ended up befriending #MarkCarrano from #TotalDivas tho. He introduced me to @wwethebigshow, getting me a picture and an autograph on my #AttitudeEra belt 👌 I also got a hug from @itsmebayley on her way out, as well as a picture with OUR new #NXTWomensChampion ☺ Made it a #3Peat with #RAWBrooklyn on Monday. Bought tickets for myself, my mom, my sister, my future brother-in-law, my future wife, and our 2 year old. It was their first #WWE event, so I was mostly taking family photos and creating lifelong memories 👪 But the few pictures I did take with my fellow fans were pretty #Epic, if I do say so myself! 😂 Can't wait to do it even #BIGGER when we go away to #Dallas for #WrestleMania32 🌟 #SHM #TooManyHashtags
