ahh okay so basically “Thank You, Vincent van Gogh” is about a 15 year old lesbian named Lee (short for Emilia) who before the start of the story is in the closet but content about it; she really had no plans on coming out because the idea of “coming out” is a bit ridiculous to her. but she ends up getting outed at the end of the school year and spends her summer break sort of dealing with that, like it’s just really awkward and weird because her family and friends know but they don’t know how to talk to her about it so it’s like this Elephant In The Room type shit but overall, starts to treat her differently and act strangely around her now that they know she’s gay (her mom is is trying too hard to be supportive and Ally Of The Year but she comes off as pushy and overbearing; her dad is distant which puts a strain on their once close relationship; her older sister makes some vaguely homophobic comments towards her but unintentionally so; one of her best friends starts acting weird towards her, as if now that she knows she’s gay means that she’s going to try hitting on her and stuff).

so Lee gets fed up with everyone in her life so she signs up for a summer art class (initially it was a lie just to get out of the house but she ends up actually signing up) and at the class she meets, Cora and the two strike up a friendship which eventually turns into a mutual crush, which sort of scares Lee because Cora is the first girl she’s ever had feelings for.

throughout the summer, Cora helps Lee learn to embrace her sexuality while Lee forces the people in her life to reevaluate the homophobic things they do or say in their everyday lives that don’t even seem homophobic at first (most importantly the language they use)

idk it’s just a story with some important underlying themes and a lot cute wlw moments! and i’m really excited about it!
