PLZ, SEND HELP
I just read the cutest fucking AU where john is a famous pop star and sherlocks his dancer and they get to be famous and out and proud and happy and in love and it was so sweet and beautiful and they affected so many young queer fans and I'm so mad that was stolen from our boys and more specifically from us. We fucking deserved their love to be canon. We deserved it to be splashed all over the TV screen and the reaction articles. We deserved that iconic moment. Queer people of all ages deserved it. Don't let anyone tell you didn't. Johnlock lives in our hearts.
It makes me sad but...
It makes me sad to see a lot of people in this fandom despair. In the end, what matters is these characters existed in a way that allowed us to make them our own. We own these characters. They have escaped the realm of Moftiss’ power. They’re ours, we’re theirs. John and Sherlock will forever be at least in part Martin and Ben. They’ll also forever be in part absolutely queer. Did they massively drop the ball on that last season? (though arguably for me it’s 100% that last episode... THT and TLD could have been fucking great if they had culminated in something different) Yes, Moftiss dropped the ball. They got so full of themselves they burst. But these characters are ours forever.
Without Moftiss’ version of these characters, we wouldn’t have had the chance to read all that glorious fanfiction (thank you, Ivyblossom, thank you emmagrant, thank you lifeonmars, thank you all the countless others I’ve personally read, adored, reread, wept to, laughed hysterically to). We wouldn’t have passionately engaged in debates and analyzed the hell out of every single detail of this show. I personally built a really strong friendship with a now close friend of mine over this fandom. The friendship was there but this show made it blossom :) And I’m thankful for that (blameitontheillustrator, I’m talking about you here!!! <3) Most of all, this show made me passionate about fiction in a way that I hadn’t been in a while and in a manner that made me grow and not just SEE but OBSERVE and understand that fiction matters a whole lot in shaping ideas, societies, politics.
And that’s worth a million bucks to me.
We found a family of fellow dreamers, nerds, underdogs, intersectional feminists, queer advocates, LGBTQ+ people, people who might have been afraid or lonely but now know that they have allies all around the world, people that believe in them, believe in the importance of good representation of women and minorities on screen, and that believe in Johnlock. People who care about them and are there to support them, even if it’s through the digital realm.
I believe in Johnlock.
And no TFP-crappiness can take that away from me (or us). Love you all :)
My religion homework
We should do #JohnlockLives because apparently we're Anderson right now
Oh, Mofftiss
Maybe the "people always stop after 3" was meant to signify that Mofftiss stopped their johnlock canonization plan after s3 because a slow burn friendship was what they wanted after all YEAH TOTALLY
Sometimes I feel sad, and then I remember that Sherlock literally came back from the dead for John Watson. <3
