This unattributed photograph of my GTO (3987) when it raced under Mecom colors at Sebring with Roger Penske and Augie Pabst at the wheel shows a door in the 'c-pillar' locked by a Djus fastener. This gave access to the oil filler for a tank located behind the passenger seat that held 21 quarts for the dry sump V12 engine and gave some balance to offset the driver's weight. This was underscored when I gave rides around Willow Springs Raceway to friends--their weight quite noticeably unbalanced the car. The fuel tank held 35 gallons--imagine getting triple Blue Chip stamps back in the day (!!). Once, at a service station, the attendant was looking underneath the car to see if there was a leak in the tank because it was taking so long to fill and he was afraid that gasoline was pouring onto the ground.
