the weird thing is that i really love the liar and his lover but i agreed with everything in your post? especially about chan-young and yoo-na (who i objectively think has no purpose in the plot). i love han-gyul and i felt like he started to actually like so-rim after the second episode, and just bc i feel like his secret wasn't THAT big of a deal, it doesn't bother me as much? i do understand why some would think its problematic tho
I think that it’s ok to like a drama even if it’s problematic. I think that if you critically analyze any drama you’re bound to find flaws in it because a person wrote it and humans are naturally imperfect. When characters have flaws it makes them more realistic. At the end of the day a drama is just there for your viewing pleasure. As long as you enjoy it, it doesn’t matter if someone else doesn’t. I think that dramas are very personal because everyone has different preferences in the types of stories they want to watch.
I agree with you that his secret wasn’t that big of a deal; however; if he would have told her who he was from day one she would have told him about her music and he could have become the producer of her band instead of Chan Young. (Can you tell I don’t like Chan Young?)
I just finished watching episode 10. Have you seen it yet? Han Gyeol grew on me and I really like him now that he’s being honest with So Rim. His true feelings are coming through and you can see that he really cares about the people around him. I’m so annoyed with Chan Young and I think my annoyance with him will keep getting stronger. The fact that he always gets jealous and tried to get between the leads is getting old because he knew from the beginning that So Rim likes Han Gyeol and nothing will ever change that.
