Though Salome is often depicted kissing the severed head of John the Baptist in art, she never states in Wilde's original play that she wishes to kiss his mouth.

Also I don't know why, maybe I'm just dumb. But I only just now realized that the image for the song is of Salome holding Jokanaan's skull (or a skull representing him) with her lipstick stain right on the teeth where his lips would be. I don't know why I never put two and two together. I always thought it was just a vaguely poetic image I guess
