hi! I'm writing a fictional/fantasy story that includes characters from throughout history/different timelines. One of them I was originally considering to be Rromani but i don't want to write the culture wrong or offensive. As it stands, it might be bordering stereotyping as story-wise she has powers similar to an oracle, and taken to a circus to be forced to work. More so, I had given her a french name due to her parents short travels by France, so idk if that would even make sense in the time

-line i planned her to be from (1790’s or so? around the time they’re forced to permanently settle?) Due to time/plot reasons she would’ve been working there for a long time that even some of her knowledge of her background starts to fade although i would like her to still remember the culture well enough. Would this go under harmful stereotyping?

Romani in Circus w/ mystical powers

This is indeed a stereotypical portrayal of a Romani woman in multiple ways; having some sort of mystical ability, and working in a circus.

It would probably be a good idea to change her ethnicity to something else, or else change what abilities she has and where she works.

Also this is the first time I ‘painted’ ocean properly :D I always just drew random water and hoped it would pass ;u; So this is the first time I did something more complicated. BG done completely in SAI using Spread and Fuzzy brushes C:
