Buy me a coffee @BeyondtheBorderThis is my space to fangirl about whatever I what, whenever want, through the use of fanfiction, fanart, fan stalking, ect. And I art too. Kind of. My art blog is @btbridiculoustrash I'm open for requests! They will be tagged as #ridiculoustrash
Todobaku is my fave pairing in bnha, but I get frustrated when I read fanfics. Whenever there’s a conflict, it’s always Katsuki’s fault. Shouto is always so innocent and sweet, and can do no wrong so it’s always Katsuki that’s the asshole and has to apologize. But often times, conflicts are a two-way street. They’re both in the wrong, but whenever I read the comments from others, it’s always, “ugh, I want to hit Bakugou on the head, he’s being so dumb, hurry up and apologize!” Or “poor Shouto, he must be hurting so bad. Bakugou, you stupid idiot!” Or something along those veins.
And it’s kind of frustrating. Don’t get me wrong, I love Shouto and all, but I just don’t agree with him being characterized as the special snowflake that can do no wrong. Yes, he’s suffered tremendously, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his own imperfections. Everyone has imperfections, and that’s ok. Sometimes, Shouto can be an asshole too.
It’s kind of like the sheith fandom in voltron, where it’s always Keith bending backwards for Shiro, because Shiro could do no wrong (or at least, many fanfics that I consumed portrayed them that way, and it frustrated me).
Maybe I’m reading the wrong fanfics? I’m sure there has to be some that doesn’t portray Katsuki has the asshole, or makes it all his responsibility to apologize. But it’s just the overwhelming majority that I’ve read, and it’s been beginning to annoy me.
Ohh~! Definitely!!! The person who fooled the ENTIRE KINGDOM as a kid and made them think he was "useless" can NEVER lie again! That's unimaginable!!!
• You're ordinary despite having survived Choi Han's beating who can easily break walls.
• You're ordinary despite surviving the Henituse war which "probably" killed everyone else.
• You're ordinary despite being one of the last survivors of the two-decade-long war.
• You're ordinary despite joining the last battle which had the strongest individuals.
• You're ordinary despite being near where Choi Han and White Star were fighting— which has to be the front line.
• You're ordinary despite GoD choosing you for the transmigration.
• You're ordinary despite managing to do KRS's work properly which no one else can do.
• You're ordinary despite being a THAMES!!!
Oh, and like someone once mentioned: why didn't ARM bother to kill you later?!
They had all that free time hunting down Ron and Beacrox after destroying the Molan household, right? So what possibly could have stopped them from offing you while you were actively fighting in the war? Hmm?
Oh wait— your flaming red hair, sooooo eye-catching, sooo similar to their dear lord's— surely impossible to miss! Surely.
So how in the world did you survive so long, hmm, dear Roksoo?
Could it be… they tried?
And couldn't do a single thing to you?
And why would that be?
Hmm.
Please, kindly inform us, my dear ordinary soldier who survived on pure luck for TWENTY YEARS! We're dying to know.
Read this sentence from chapter 1 of lout of the count's family for me
"He meets the main character a few times after he gets the scar, and, in a refreshing cider-like scene, gets beaten to a pulp."
"—meets the main character a few times"
I don't think og!Cale immediately got beaten up by Choi Han upon meeting him???
Now look at this from chapter 5.
"Cale threw five jabs before he was hit. Which means, one jab should be okay."
This sounds like og!Cale met Choi Han five times before he got beaten up. Of course, it could have been less and og!Cale just threw in more "jabs" per meeting but I find it interesting that, despite what is generally considered canon in the fandom, og!Cale was not immediately beaten up, and even met og!Choi Han multiple times before it.
To me... doesn't that sound like og!Cale was searching for a sore spot? Something that would throw Choi Han into a fit of anger enough to beat up the son of a count? Seems like his comment about Harris Village might not have been his true thoughts, but his last resort attempt– mocking the dead. To force Choi Han to react.
If my knowledge of canon isn't wrong either, og!Cale was alone with Choi Han when this happened. As if he had predicted that this would send Choi Han into a frenzy and didn't want his guards to try and protect him, or punish Choi Han for it. Since og!Cale also didn't tell anyone about who beat him up or why.
So as far as I can tell... og!Cale didn't mock Harris Village out of nowhere? But was instead a carefully selected choice that he made out of necessity– because Choi Han hadn't risen to any of his other "jabs" and he needed someone to beat him up. Perhaps to get out of going to the meeting with the nobles?
There's still some parts that don't make sense, but I'm going through the novel to double check my knowledge and verify it. For example, Ron says this in chapter 10.
"This is going to be your first time outside the Henituse territory, right?"
This implies that og!Cale has never taken up the responsibility of going to the noble's meeting, and this is confirmed when lcf!Cale goes to the residential manor at the capital and it's described how the servants have never met Cale before. BUT in the novel, it isn't a question on if lcf!Cale will be attending. He just does.
So og!Cale would have needed an excuse every time the nobles meeting came around for why he couldn't go. Now think about this: why did og!Cale get that scar on his side? Og!Cale isn't covered in scars, so why is it that suddenly he does something reckless like that a few days before having to leave for the nobles meeting?
Presumably, it's because he needed an excuse. But it's a scar by the time he meets Choi Han only a few days later, so clearly his father hired a priest so heal og!Cale, or already had one on hand. No injury, no excuse. So og!Cale decided to get Choi Han to beat him up. No one else in the territory would have been able to do it! og!Cale already scared off all the gangsters, who are also too afraid of the count's retaliation when they are found out. Choi Han has no fear of that retaliation, at least when it comes to mocking his dead family.
Note: og!Cale got that scar before meeting Choi Han. Then he meets Choi Han and starts throwing out jabs? This means either og!Cale didn't know that Choi Han was strong but goaded him anyway, knowing no one else would beat him up... or og!Cale already had enough strength to tell that Choi Han was extremely strong, enough that beating up a normal person and beating up a slightly strong person would feel exactly the same to him, and that's why he goes after him. Not because Choi Han would be the only one willing to beat him up in their territory– after all, surely there's at least one or two that would do it? So why Choi Han?
Please add onto this if you remember something relevent because I haven't reread the first 50 or so chapters, and so I don't remember if Cale had to go and tell Deruth he would be the one going to the capital, if I missed it as I was skimming through or if it was said in a later chapter. I must analyze og!Cale through a microscope!!!!
Hey y'all! So I know I haven't posted much lately BUT college has been crazy. And related to that, for one of my classes I'm doing a study on the relationship between time within the greater fandom community and understanding of fanfiction-related jargon. Below I have the link to the survey which will just have three multiple choice questions relating to your relationship to fandom and then a list of 15 terms to define if you know them.
Please reblog this or otherwise share the survey link with anyone you think might be interested so I can have as large of a sample size as possible for this. The form will be open until April 24th.
Thank you all so much!
(and yes, I will post the data when I get it all collected for all you fellow nerds)
A survey to determine the relationship between the understanding of fandom jargon and the time one has been in the fandom community
Yay! 4 Seasons Live is here! I'm actually pretty surprised by how quickly it took me to translate this, as I have a habit of taking at least a year.
If you are feeling generous, my tip page is here. It’s hella empty, but it’s me, I promise. I just have no idea how to organize it… YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PAY ME THOUGH. Please, don’t feel pressured!
INSTEAD I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO PURCHASE THE DVDS ON YOUR OWN TO SUPPORT THE FRANCHISE DIRECTLY!
For those of you guys who didn’t get a chance to watch the previous ones, I’m really sorry, but because of lack of storage, I won’t be reuploading it. But if someone wants to do a discord watch party or something with someone who already has the files, I wouldn’t be opposed to it (I’m also willing to do it, but my timezone is Pacific, so that might not match with some of you).
I’ve also been getting requests for my transcripts of the scripts. Those I have decided to charge. A coffee per script. Again, if you want to watch the previous ones for free, just dm me to schedule a watch party. Unfortunately, the lives don't have scripts, so I can't give those away.
But if you guys still want to watch 4 Seasons Live 2020 anyway, please read my following rules!
Since it’s a bit risky posting this on YouTube, I’ll be uploading this onto a google drive. Please DM me with your email, and I’ll be happy to share the link with you.
Also, I’ve been receiving requests for the drive through anon. I can’t reply to anon messages directly, and I feel iffy about publicly publishing your email, so please, for your sake, don’t send me a request through anon. Also, the fact that you’re on anon kind of makes me nervous? So please just dm me off of anon.
I also want to note that I purchased both the DVDs and the scripts, and combined, it was pricey as hell (don’t even get me started with international shipping). So out of respect, please don’t post this or share this anywhere else. I don’t mind if you decided to download it, but if I ever come across this anywhere else, then I won’t be sharing the others. Also please DO NOT UPLOAD SCREENCAPS OF THESE ON TWITTER ON INSTA. Tumblr is fine, since no one checks this hell site, but the other ones? No way.
Also, my reading comprehension is a lot better than my listening in Japanese. So this was especially tricky since ALL of it was done through listening alone. I cannot claim to have 100% accuracy in any scene. I merely tried my best. If someone wants to make corrections, I totally don’t mind! Instead, I’d love to know! (But I probably won’t be changing it officially since… rendering the whole thing again would take fucking forever.)
By the way, 4 Seasons Live consisted of 2 days, but I didn't want to do that, so I combined both days in 1. Most of it is the same anyways, and some extra scenes might've been skipped, but. The main attraction is the shuffle plays, and they did 2 per day. Instead, I spliced them and combined them into troupe order, so some of the in-between scenes might not make sense sometimes, but I tried my best.
I’m just an amateur at subbing, so I apologize if the quality isn’t the best. I do a proof-watching before rendering, but I’m not sure if I caught everything. Sorry if there’s some mistakes!
Lastly, I have one request, and it’s totally optional! But I would love to hear your commentaries/thoughts/opinion, on Mankai Stage 4 Seasons Live 2020, since it’s kind of lonely just fangirling about it myself.
As proof of you reading through this whole thing, please include the word: ghost stories, in your DMs to me!
Thank you!
P.S. If this post still exists, then it's not too late to ask for the link!
Hi just asking if i could have a link of the mankai's nocturnality if that's allowed. Thank you.
Hey! It's still available, no worries. Please read this post, and once you finish the instructions I put there, I'd be happy to share the file with you!
What I really loved in OPLA season 2 is how they adapted the scenes of the Straw Hats worrying about Nami. You can feel in the live action that they all feel just as helpless as they did in the animanga.
The first is Sanji's helplessness when Nami first wakes up. He mentions he's been trying to feed her and that it's been a struggle. This tells me he has crafted several dishes of several different textures in an attempt find something they could get down her throat.
Next, on the island when they're going to town you can see their anxiety. Usopp and Sanji are clustered close, keeping Nami warm and safe so she doesn't fall. Zoro's shows his anxiety by sticking incredibly close to the group instead of striding out ahead or getting lost. He's clearly showing signs of being high on his guard. Luffy's stress is showing through his incredibly short temper. He loses all sense of diplomacy the second they're attacked, which is unlike him.
The stress is even more compounded once they're in the tavern. None of them know what to do and they're all uneasy. They all stay impossibly close to Nami as she sleeps. They can't stand to let her out of their sight. Even Zoro is sticking close in an establishment full of alcohol.
The only one not close to Nami is Luffy because he's busy weighing his options to help her as he stares at the mountains. But even then he's only a few steps away from the crew. They're all practically glued to Nami's side.
Also, you see the total buildup of Luffy's distress and care for Nami once she's healed. In Doctorine's castle, Luffy goes to Nami's bed and practically crumbles at her side because he's so relieved. Nami, endeared by his care, lovingly pets Luffy's hair to soothe him. And then, all through Chopper's story, Sanji and Luffy cling close to Nami like they're magnetized.
Watching the OPLA and knowing whats going to happen adds for a level of fun, cause like yes... I KNOW what will happen, but I dont know HOW they will portray it.
