Confession:  For a future Mass Effect game, I think it would be great if we could play through the story of Jon Grissom, the first human to travel through the Charon Relay who discovered that we as humans are not alone in the galaxy and play through the resulting First Contact War with the Turians! I get that it wouldn't exactly fit the free-roam kind of story that Mass Effect usually goes by though, since the story is already set out. I think it would be very interesting though

summary:

When Louis Allen points out on a particular December day that he hasn't had any contact with his sister for seventy years, Clement de Terre, previously known as RK800-60, knows he has to do something about it. However, there are quite a few problems he has to overcome: one, Lou's sister is his boss; two, she is stubborn as hell; three, she is one of the members of the Charon Expedition, a historical voyage led by a man called Jon Grissom that will bring the task force to an unknown corner of the galaxy based on data recovered from an alien ruin unearthed on Mars with zero guarantee of a return journey; four, the Expedition will occur less than two years later, which means he has very little time given that he might have to hop between celestial bodies in the Sol system to catch his target. But enough is enough, and damn him if he doesn't try his best to let his husband meet his sister one last time before she bets her immortal life on the ghosts of a dead civilisation.

Written for Jacket (Jacatt) for a secret santa gift exchange. As suggested by the name of the exchange and the theme of the fic, this was supposed to be due on Christmas day, but then things went out of hand, I'm still not done with it after more than three weeks, so I've decided to chop it into three parts plus an additional chapter specifically for the lore I generously borrowed from Mass Effect made up for events that might be mentioned only once or twice because my brain insists on worldbuilding beyond the fic's narrative capacity every single time.

For those who do know Mass Effect lore, you might notice some discrepancies in the timeline of human space exploration between canon and this fic. This is because I think being able to formulate a full plan to go through a mass relay so shortly after the discovery of FTL travel (around one year, according to the game's canon) is quite impractical, and giving them more time to prepare and panic over the prospect of everything will make more practical sense.

Teritary Codex: Jon Grissom

Rear Admiral Jon Grissom (2110 - 2185/86) is a famed Systems Alliance hero. In 2149 when the Charon Relay was discovered orbiting Pluto and activated, none of the probes sent through had enough power to transmit a message back. The Alliance soon understood that the only way to discover where the relay led to send a team through it.

Grissom was chosen as the team leader and hailed as a hero when he returned, adopted by the masses as one of the greatest pioneers of human space exploration.

On a personal level, however, Grissom is a sullen, retiring man who doesn’t relish the attention. Though he took a leading role during the First Contact War, in 2160, Grissom becomes a recluse on Elysium and refuses any contact interviews or contact with the Alliance media.

After announcing last week that he plans to out pedophiles in Hollywood, Corey Feldman has named two men he claims abused him. On "The Dr. Oz Show," Feldman named former co-star Jon Grissom and showed his photo on air, claiming the man sexually assaulted him in the 1980s. Later, Feldman went on Twitter to clarify that the man's name is Jon Grissom, not John Grissom, who is another actor.  -CBS
