Jonathan narrowed his eyes as Jervis looked at him, pleading. This had been happening more and more, it was starting to get ridiculous.
“Fine..” Jon relented, pushing over the half eaten plate of spaghetti that he wasn’t going to finish.
Jervis’ behaviour over the last three months had been...weird. Jonathan was lying awake in bed thinking about it, Jervis snoring beside him. First there was the stomach bug and moodiness and the fatigue..now there was this changed relationship with food. Jon never paid much attention to Jervis’ eating habits despite them being engaged and living together but he definitely noticed when they changed. Lately he’d been going after things he usually didn’t touch and turning his nose up at things he usually loved. There was also the changes to his body, Jon could swear he was a little thicker in the middle. He figured he was imagining it but as Jervis stretched and rolled over to be half on top of him Jon could feel that the other man was definitely a bit heavier. Not that he cared what Jervis looked like...the situation was just a curious one, and Jervis seemed oblivious to all of it.
“Jervis?” Jon asked as they lay together in bed. Jervis just groaned, not wanting to be woken up, despite recently being quite the morning person. Jon was a bit nervous about what he was about to suggest, not knowing how Jervis would react “I think maybe you should take a pregnancy test.”
Jervis scoffed “No, there’s no way I’m pregnant.” He said firmly as he turned over.
“Maybe we should check just in case.”
Jervis huffed “Jon, look. A few years before I met you I underwent tubal ligation so...there’s no way.”
Jon sat up a bit “Why didn’t you tell me about that?”
Jervis rolled his eyes “People always act weird about it, I also assumed you wouldn’t care as you don’t seem like the type to want children.”
Jon’s brow furrowed, why would Jervis assume that about him? “Alright...I suppose...nevermind then.” But the symptoms continued.
Jervis had been reluctant to go to the doctor but he himself was starting to get freaked out. The doctor’s visit had been...an eventful one. Jervis indeed was expecting, apparently his tied tubes had grown back together which no one had told him could happen. He wrung his hands on the car ride home.
“It’s alright, Jervis.” Jon said, noticing the other man’s worry.
“B-But we’ve never even discussed having children- e-especially not having them- and-and we’ll have to change all of the wedding plans-“
“Can you at least wait until we get home to panic?”
Jervis had been pacing around the kitchen for a while but stopped when Jon spoke “So do you want to keep it or not?”
Jervis paused, anxiously popping his knuckles “Well...I didn’t think I’d ever want a baby with anyone until I met you so I..want to keep it I suppose...but you-“
“I’m alright with that.” Jon said coming over to hug the other man.

The Broken Mad Soldier (Soldier of war au | Open to all Jonathans)
Jervis had to protect him he had to. Jervis couldn’t just sit by while the war raged and was getting so close to their home. Jervis loved Jonathan so much that he couldn’t just sit by. He knew Jonathan would tell him it’s a bad bad idea and that he’d only get himself killed. Jervis was only a hatter he only knew how to make hats. But.. he couldn’t let their home be destroyed by this horrible war. Jervis knew if he did this he might never see Jonathan again but he was doing it for Jonathan so he’d be safe. Jervis would do anything and everything to protect him. No matter the cost.
It has been two years since he packed what he needed and left the note to Jonathan telling him he loved him and would always protect him no matter what. Two years since he made his way into a war he only joined to protect everything he had. It was hell. Everything was out right hell, but that’s what war is. Jervis almost got killed so many times by so many people. He had made friends and watched them die. He watched everyone die. He did things he never would have done if he hadn’t joined this hell of a war. He killed people and it hurt him deeply. Jervis used a gun and killed people fighting for the same thing he was. He’d seen things and been so scared the whole time. That had been one of the reasons he was still alive now. He’d been shot by one of the enemies just before the war ended. Shot just a 3 days before the hellish war ended for good. Two years he fought for his life and to keep his Jonathan safe. He was broken but he still had his Jonathan. So many times he would have given up and died had it not been for the thought of Jonathan and the picture he kept of him. War wasn’t a place for a man like Jervis and it broke him again and again. But he kept going to make sure Jonathan would be safe. He just hoped Jonathan still wanted him now. He knew he must have scared Jonathan and angered him since he promised never to leave Jonathan but he kept his promise. One way or another Jervis was back, a little more broken for wear but he was back.
The Hatter turned soldier was coming home today. He was going to see his Jonathan again and even though his shoulder still hurt from the bullet he took he couldn’t wait to see his Jonathan again. He had missed Jonathan so badly but now he’s see him again and that made Jervis tear up with many a tear in his pale blue eyes that had seen things no gentle soul should see.
He stood outside what had been their home, their house. The Hatter definitely looked worse for wear with his old uniform on along with his hat. It had taken a lot of time to find it again and it certainly looked to be in need of a good cleaning but his hat sat atop his head like it used to. The Hatter turned soldier swallowed thickly before he knocked on the door to his and Jonathan’s home.
