Okay SOOOO

T_T Because of the way the game works I made an alternate character named Kanna Doll to give to Jon ... because :))) he kinda wouldn't get over Kanna. And tbh I'm over here like "I dont wanna ship him with someone else" so I made basically...a Kanna alter.

Their personalities are different and I changed a few things about Kanna Doll's appearance basically to help??? Differentiate? But also because I sort of have her characterized in a way...?

@_@ i feel like Kanna Doll is more like depression!Kanna that takes on doll-like traits and is generally anxious, shy, and needy.

In game she actually fell in love with Jon first and he was basically. Not terribly interested in her/seemed to genuinely prefer the OG and would actually get frustrated with Kanna Doll a lot.

And I'm over here like "ohhh this is so tasty drama" so my brain is filling in the blanks. It brings me back to an old oc who was a dollmaker, as well as my Bloodborne AU a bit and the concept of Doll!Kanna being a construction of the dollmaker who made the Doll in an idealized vision of Kanna. And somehow the Doll ends up in Jonathan's hands. Probably as a hard cope because the real Kanna is out of reach due to reasons beyond both their control. Maybe he was the one who had her created in the first place?

But as with Gehrman, for example, the Doll doesn't live up to his expectations, because she isn't like the original girl she's based on. Where Maria (Kanna) was a fleshed out woman with independence and convictions, the Doll is more or less subservient, rather the opposite of what the actual person was like.

Thus I think Jon initially writes off Kanna Doll in a similar fashion. He doesn't like her because she's not the person he was in love with, just a Plain Doll in his eyes.

But the longer Kanna Doll lives, the more she forms her own thoughts, feelings, and personality. And in ways she can be quite similar to the actual Kanna, but she is a much more delicate and timid version that has been rendered powerless.

And Jon is the person she was "made" for. -7- In a sense, she's Kanna's way of trying to stay beside him even though she isn't able to.

"I am a doll created by you humans, would you ever think to love me? Of course, I do love you, isn't that how you've made me?"

And as an added layer to this topic, technically Jonathan Crow is the result of Kanna's wishes to see the OG Jon as well.

Jonathan was a crow that took on Jon's memories and appearance to try and make Kanna smile again. :,) In a way...both Jonathan Crow and Kanna Doll are not actually the people that they are meant to represent. Merely reflections of memories, and their purpose for existence is merely the shallow wish to be with someone that was lost.

These are mostly just au musings, can or can not be canon! In a way I think Kanna Doll is also just an alternate personality of Kanna as well...
