maz
- the d-backs were playing in the regionals of their summer league in maryland, all thanks to your boyfriend, and he of course invited you to come along. the game was going great, the guys were all playing the best they could.
it was the final inning, the bases were loaded, the d-backs were winning by just one. maz was up to bat now, and you had a feeling that he was going to get the game-winning hit. his dad sat next to you, rubbing your back comfortingly when he noticed how tense you were.
“he’ll get a hit,” he tells you, “he always does.”
“don’t jinx it, joey,” you joke. you can’t help but look away from the game, averting your eyes down to the ground.
“just tell me when it’s over.” as soon as you finish talking, you hear a crack and the crowd begin to cheer. looking up, you see maz running right to first, sending barone home, following with murray and ty. maz stops at second and the crowd goes wild.
the guys gather at home base and jump around, screaming and yelling with energy and joy.
“go get your boy, he’s looking for you,” joey says, pointing to maz who stood on the field, scanning the crowd. grinning, you jump from your spot and make your way to your boyfriend. he meets you halfway by running, scooping you in his arms once you reach each other.
“holy shit! that was an amazing game!” you yell as he spins you around, holding onto you tightly. he sets you down after a little bit, but still keeps his arms around you, swaying side to side.
“you’re all sweaty,” you mumble against his chest. “and covered in dirt.” a chuckle rumbles through his chest and his grip gets a bit tighter.
“you love me, no matter what,” he says against your forehead.
“i do. even when you’re all sweaty and gross.” you both laugh and finally you pull away from his grasp, though he STILL keeps you close, leaving his hands on your hips.
“i love you too,” he caresses your cheek while staring into your eyes. you glance behind him and see the entire team watching you two and waiting for maz.
“i think you better go to them, they’re waiting,” you tell him. he turns around and waves them off before looking back at you.
“they can wait a few more minutes while i make out with my girlfriend.”
dells
- it was no secret that dells gets really upset when the team loses a game. he’s a pitcher after all, so if he’s giving up runs with bad pitches, he’s of course going to blame himself. and that’s what happened last night.
he started to choke up towards the end of the game, but ty wouldn’t take him out, he couldn’t; the closer for the team was out with an injury, and no one else warmed up to pitch. so, he was stuck with pitching the entire game, and nothing was working to help him throw strikes.
they of course lose, bad, and as expected, dells was tough on himself. you spent the night with him to comfort him and let him know that it’s okay to lose sometimes. you knew there was no use in telling him that it’s not his fault, he wasn’t going to believe you.
the following morning, you wake up before him, letting him sleep in just a little longer. you remove yourself from his grip and make your way downstairs, starting to make some eggs, hash browns, and pancakes.
you finish the eggs quickly and move onto the pancakes while the hash browns cook on another burner. as you’re waiting to flip the pancake you were working on, hands wrap around your waist and lock around you, pulling you close.
“hey,” dells whispers in your ear. he presses a couple kisses to your neck and tightens his grip just a little bit more.
“you sleep well?” you ask, turning around after finishing the pancake. dells nods and stares down at you. his hands sneak under your shirt and rest on your bare waist, rubbing his thumb back and forth.
“yeah. thanks for letting me sleep in. last night was…” he can’t even finish his sentence, but you understand.
“i know, babe. it’ll be okay.” you reach up and caress his cheek. he leans into your touch and smiles softly, for the first time since yesterday.
“thank you for last night,” his voice drops, sadness still evident in it. “seriously, i feel like i would’ve punched my wall if you weren’t here.” a small chuckles escapes your lips, but you know he’s one hundred percent serious.
“it’s the least i can do. i hate when you’re sad and blaming yourself. you’re an amazing pitcher and just because you lose a game here and there doesn’t mean you’re bad. you can’t be blamed for getting tired.” he smiles once more and leans down to kiss you.
“i love you so much.”
zapata
- chris had basically piles of homework for classes, a few projects and presentations to work on, and on top of that, baseball practice and games. there was no doubt that he was stressed.
and, as if he wasn’t too overworked enough, he got in a fight with his mom over you. she didn’t like you very much for some reason. you met her for the first time over the weekend, chris invited you over for dinner with him and his family. but after you left, his mom voiced some...worries she had about you.
on the night that she was working the night shift at the hospital she is a nurse at, chris invited you to spend the night, as she would be gone until the following night and you two didn’t have to cross paths.
you were sitting on chris’s bed while he sat at his desk, hunched over, working on one of his presentations for next week.
“chris, why don’t you come lay with me and take a break?” you say, seeing how tense his shoulders are.
“i can’t take a break until i have at least half of this presentation done,” he replies in a monotone voice.
“you’re really stressed and it’s not good for you. you’re going to overwork yourself and it’s not going to end well.” still, he doesn’t listen. and just as you said, it happened.
it was now nearing eleven at night and chris was still working on things. you could see that he was starting to shake from anxiety and nerves, so that’s when you stepped in.
“okay, you need to take a break, zap. i’m serious.”
“no! i need to finish this!”
“christopher!” that’s when he finally breaks. he stands and falls into your arms, sobbing out loudly. you bring him over to his bed and lay down, allowing him to cuddle up next to you and just cry.
“shh, it’ll be okay. you’re not going to work on anything else for the rest of the night, okay?” he nods against your shoulder, continuing to cry out.
after a while, he calms down enough to sit up and wipe his dried tears.
“there’s just so much. with all of my homework, barely any time to do it with practice and games, and my mom just being so inconsiderate, i can’t deal with it all.” you sit up with him and cup his cheeks with your hands.
“you can and you will. i’ll help you with your homework whenever you need it, i’ll be there for you after your games and practices, and as much as i don’t want to, i can somehow find a way to convince your mom that i’m not that bad.” chris smiles thankfully and leans in to kiss you.
“thanks, baby girl.”
Undrafted. (2016 | favorite shots, p3/?)
Need a Hoechlin movie break tonight and I'm torn now.... Everybody Wants Some!! Or Undrafted?
My dumb little baseball movie headcanon...
👆Father
👆Son
Dells has no idea, until Mac comes to see the game. Ty awkwardly introduces Mac as "your dad" (and that's how Dells learns he and Ty don't have the same father) and he and Mac move away from everyone to talk.
Mac had a pretty great career as a pro ball player, and never quite outgrew his fuck the baseball groupies phase (it was never an issue with his boyfriend - now husband, now that they're both retired - Roper anyway; half the time they shared women) until that one pregnancy scare that turned out to be more than just a scare. He admits to being kind of a dick to Dells' mom about it, so she refused to let him be in his kid's life.
Dells struggles to wrap his head around being the son of a super fucking famous baseball player.
Mac is horrified that his son is a fucking pitcher. 😂
Y'all, I love Derek Hale as much as the next fanbeast, but it's a liiiiittle annoying that searching Tyler's real name brings back almost exclusively Derek/TW gifs.
(how far down I had to scroll for this, past where completely irrelevant shit he had nothing to do with was coming up, is ridiculous)
Like... he's done other shit. He's done some pretty fucking incredible shit.
he's SUPERMAN FFS
Derek is hot, sure, but Tyler Hoechlin is so much more than just Derek Hale.
also he is fucking sexy in glasses ijs
