One Month “Unemployed”
It seems strange to know I have now officially been unemployed for one month.
One month seems like a long time down on paper. Simultaneously if doesn’t feel nearly that long in real life. So much has happened between then and now. In all honesty I don’t think the feeling of unemployment has fully kicked in. A week and a half in London packing up my life, a couple of days travelling, a couple of days settling in, a couple of days job hunting before family time and then already I am in the now.
And now my days disappear in a blur of visitors, meal times, trawling job sites to find “the perfect job”, staying in touch with friends and been inspired.
There are phenomenally talented, interesting and inspiring people in the world and I now have time to spend on these people. One that has particularly caught my attention is J.Viewz’ and his DNA Project. Back in September of last year Jonathan Dagan started the documentation of his next album. Where earlier this year I would watched his latest clips whilst trying to multi task at work I now not only have time to check in more frequently for his latest updates but I’ve also been able to go back and re-watch from the start again.
As someone who is passionate about music I have always been inspired by musicians. Appreciatively listening to new album after album. Following every music blog you can imagine. Diarising release dates and re-listening to all my favourite songs as if for the first time every time. Understanding exactly what goes into each track is beyond me, a little like eating a delicious meal and knowing that the chef is a little bit mind blowing but knowing that it would be impossible for you to list every ingredient.
The DNA project breaks down the process of producing an entire album, track by track. Sharing what has inspired him, recording each of the different elements of the song and introducing the different people who contribute to the different elements of the song whether fellow musicians or the people he surrounds himself by. Not only is the content amazing but the website is also unbelievably dreamy and deservedly recently voted for the Webby Awards - http://pv.webbyawards.com/2015/web/general-website/music
One of the few book marks on my computer, one of the few online projects I have supported with funding and one of the only websites that doesn’t have a news feed but has me captivated for hours.
