it’s late at night and jason is starving, hospital food not being exactly what he’s into. a convincing talk with a doctor leads to jason being allowed out of the hospital for an hour, just so he could eat something decent. he’s sure it’s not allowed, but his shooter had been caught and he wasn't in danger anymore, and the best way to try to recover was to try to get back to normal.
he’s given a ride to pops diner, his nurse saying it’d be okay for him to have a milkshake. it’s not a lot, but it’s something. he remembered pops, loved it there, but he couldn’t remember his old orders. couldn’t place the booth he’d always sit in. his memory had been sketchy since he woke up, everything feeling just a bit confusing.
as he’s wheeled into the diner - something the nurse had insisted on despite jason’s protests that he could just about walk on his own - he notices a face in a nearby booth. can’t place the name, but he knows that face. as the nurse orders a couple of milkshakes jason wheels himself over to the table, glancing at what the boy’s writing on his laptop.
“hey.” it’s said slowly as jason tries harder than ever to remember the boys name, but he just can’t place it. “whatcha’ writing?” he may not remember a whole lot about the boy, but he‘s sure they had talked at least once in the past. he‘s hoping they might have talked enough that the sudden conversation isn’t strange, but with everything that happened to jason he‘s betting that pretty much anyone would consider talking to him strange.
