Unnie and I had to pick up some cheap ice cream last night for our parents to use in root beer floats, and this label made me laugh like a loon in the middle of the grocery store, because it reminded me of @lala-pipo's delicious (far more so than the ice cream 😉) JongTae fic, Dorm Life: The Merits of being Vanilla. (Which you absolutely need to read if you aren't already - it's long and luscious and ongoing!)
taemin knew that everything was going a bit too perfectly but guess what he still loves jonghyun
AHH so when i found out i’d be writing for this cursed song, i actually enjoyed it the most hahahaha. sorry it’s a bit crappy but thanks for waiting!
Taemin can’t really help feeling uneasy, especially when everything in preparation up until this moment has gone perfectly and smoothly. It’s a beach, for God’s sake and Taemin just knows something is going to go wrong.
Jonghyun had insisted that they wear some form of matching outfits, much to Taemin’s dismay. Of course, making Jonghyun smile is all he really wants but he doesn’t want to look like a fucking sailor boy in the process.
“Let’s wear these striped shirts,” Jonghyun suggests. He presses one of the two shirts, a grey one resting on a hanger against Taemin’s chest. His eyes are filled with childlike wishfulness.
Taemin opens his mouth to protest but clamps it shut, unable to turn down this ridiculous request. He takes the shirt and watches Jonghyun’s face light up. “Fine. Only if we choose our own pants.” Jonghyun giddily agrees.
And now, even with that small bump (is that considered a bump?), Taemin still feels like something is wrong. As soon as they step onto the sand, Jonghyun half-jogs over towards the water, dodging the many bodies that crowd the space like cattle and sets up his blanket smack dab in the middle of the boiling sunlight. He sets up an umbrella as well, which does nothing to protect him from the death rays above.
Taemin follows, navigating through the crowd and cringing. He pulls a bottle of sunscreen out of his backpack and plops down on the blanket next to Jonghyun. He squeezes some into his hand and rubs it on Jonghyun’s face, him cringing at the gross and sticky feeling.
“Is this really necessary?”
“Yes, unless you want to look like a burnt tomato,” Taemin says like a knowing mother. He rubs some on his own face and then wipes his hands on his bare legs. “I forgot the snack bag. Be right back.” He stands up and dusts off his legs. The sand is sticking to his sunscreen covered skin. Just great. He turns towards the car and is suddenly filled with excitement at the thought of just food. Kibum had packed them a nice snack bag with “everything they may need” meal wise inside. Taemin’s just thankful neither him nor Jonghyun packed it. It would just be filled with melted chocolate. He opens the trunk and retrieves the snack filled cooler bag but when he returns, Taemin can already tell something is wrong.
Jonghyun is gone.
“Fucking…” Taemin mutters to himself. Jonghyun should even know himself that this beach is new to both of them and extremely crowded. Getting up without telling anyone is practically the stupidest shit ever to be done. Taemin pulls out his phone and calls Jonghyun.
It goes straight to voicemail.
Taemin starts to panic. Jonghyun’s phone was fully charged this morning. He stops. Jonghyun also had to pee this morning but they were already on the road. Taemin sighs. He probably went to look for a bathroom and dropped his phone in the toilet or something and then couldn’t find the blanket because there were too many people. Taemin groans. Now he has to go fucking find him. He sets off, hoping no one steals their snacks or their umbrella. Jonghyun would be upset.
Which, Taemin supposes he deserves for taking off with no notice. He shakes his head.
~
Jonghyun is fucking lost and he knows it. He really needed to pee though and who knows, Taemin has noodley arms. He could have broken them trying to carry the snack bag.
Or he could have been hit by a car.
Damn it, where the hell am I?
Jonghyun has walked around the bathroom about five times and then tried walking in the supposed direction of where Taemin should be. He ended up by the street. Jonghyun is really confused because honestly, who the hell goes to the bathroom and gets lost coming back? Was it that far? He doesn’t even know what to do with his phone. He dropped it in the sand and then because karma loves him, a wave washed over it. Jonghyun swears to himself. It hasn’t turned on since.
“Are you lost?”
Jonghyun turns his head and is met with a woman. She’s looking up at him with blinking, innocent eyes. He nods vigorously. “Yes. I’m trying to find my-”
“You could come sit with me.”
He isn’t getting it. “I really need to get back to my spot. I think-”
“Why? I could, I don’t know, buy you a drink?” She throws her thumb back and points to the beach juice bar a couple hundred feet away.
Jonghyun suddenly understands, knowing that playing car all too well. “I’m gay,” he blurts out, hoping this is will deter her from something that hasn’t really been spoken. Is she hitting on him? She’s standing close to Jonghyun and she reeks like too much lavender.
Her face turns red and then she turns away and runs off, muttering an apology that Jonghyun only shrugs to. He swears he can hear her say something like, “Why the hell did you make me do that? He isn’t even straight!” A tart laugh leaves his mouth. He coughs and resumes his search for Taemin.
After asking a grand total of six people on how the fuck he’s supposed to get back to the main beach, a friendly old lady manages to direct him towards some of the other beach occupants. Jonghyun takes off towards the blankets, towels and half naked old men when he skids to a stop.
And there’s Taemin, sitting cross legged with his back to the older on the sand, petting a big golden retriever. Jonghyun knows it’s him. He’s wearing the shirt he picked out earlier that morning. He runs over to him and Taemin only turns around when he sees a giant black shadow suddenly blocking out the sun.
“Jonghyun!” he exclaims, shooting out of his sitting position. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve been worried sick.” He pulls him into a tight hug and then releases.
“Worried sick playing with a dog?” Jonghyun asks, eyebrows raises. He’s not even upset. He just feels like teasing Taemin.
“Well, I was looking but then this cute dog came up to me and I just had to pet him because he was so cute. Besides, I asked like, twenty people and no one responded to my description of a ‘tiny blonde dude who looks really fucking gay and he also has the voice of an angel.’”
Jonghyun rolls his eyes. “Can we just go back to the blanket? I’m hungry,” he whines. “I hope Kibum packed macaroni salad.”
“Why the fuck would you bring macaroni salad to the beach?”
“Why not?”
Jonghyun. He’s dense sometimes and has a poor sense of direction, but Taemin takes his hand into his own and drags him back to the blanket.

“…hyun.”
“Mmm?”
“Jonghyun!”
“W-What?” Jonghyun blinked his eyes open to find his older sister hovering over him. From how dark the room was, he knew it was far too late for her to be up wandering around the house. “What time is it?”
She ignored him, “I heard a noise.”
“A noise?” he sat up, “What do you mean?”
“It came from the living room,” she pointed towards Jonghyun’s open door, “Can you go see what it was?”
He sighed, “I’m sure it was nothing, just go back to sleep.”
“Jonghyun, what if someone broke in and is stealing all of our gifts?” she asked, there was anxiety clear as day in her voice. “Please go see.”
Jonghyun climbed out of bed and Sodam tiptoed carefully behind him as he made his way down the hallway. The living room was illuminated by the still lit white Christmas tree and the snow falling heavily on the street. As far as he could see, there was nothing out of place. He turned to face Sodam but found she was nowhere in sight, “Noona?” she didn’t answer. “Sodam—”
Clunk!
Jonghyun turned back around, his heart positively leaping out of his chest, to find a box sitting in the center of the room. He smirked, “Noona, if this is you trying to scare me it won’t work.” He walked over to the box, it looked as if it had been opened haphazardly. Jonghyun peered inside and found that it was the present his uncle had given to him. Inside were souvenirs from his uncle’s many travels around the world. To Sodam, he’d gifted a traditional nutcracker and to Jonghyun, a decorative fairy to hang on the tree.
Sodam’s nutcracker was laying beside the box, its arm now a few inches away from its body. Jonghyun carefully picked up the wooden decoration and reattached the arm, all while wondering how this even happened. Who could have done this? Before Sodam woke him, he swore everyone was tucked away in bed sleeping soundly waiting for Christmas morning to arrive.
Meanwhile, Jonghyun’s fairy was nowhere in sight.
Thump!
Jonghyun jumped up into the air, the nutcracker still tight in his grasp. “Sodam,” his voice and his body trembled, “it’s Christmas, not Halloween, y-you don’t have to scare me.”
Suddenly, Jonghyun felt someone very gently tap him on the shoulder. He spun around, completely prepared to use Sodam’s nutcracker as a weapon to fight off any intruder—but instead, he felt every nerve inside of him freeze.
Standing before him was the most beautiful man he’d ever seen. He had skin as white as porcelain, soft pink hair that seemed to blow gently despite there being no wind, and he wore a bejewelled body suit. The man blinked at him, his hand still hovering where he had tapped Jonghyun on the shoulder.
“H-Hello,” Jonghyun said nervously. The man blinked once more before his eyes fixed on the nutcracker still clenched in Jonghyun’s hands. The man reached the nutcracker and Jonghyun immediately stepped back, “You can’t have this.” The man frowned and took a delicate step towards Jonghyun. So delicate, that it made Jonghyun’s look down to the man’s feet and instead of shoes or socks, the man wore pointe shoes. The man took advantage of Jonghyun’s moment of distraction and pulled the nutcracker from his hands. “Hey—” Jonghyun started but the man lifted his finger to his lips, effectively quieting Jonghyun.
As the man crossed the room with grace, Jonghyun saw a pair of sparkling pink wings on the man’s back, with each step the man took the wings left a trail of glittery air behind him.
It was then that Jonghyun realised why his fairy was missing from the giftbox.
The man—or rather, fairy—placed Sodam’s nutcracker gently onto the mantel of the fireplace. The fairy eyed the nutcracker for a few moments, as if to make sure it didn’t move from its place, before looking back at Jonghyun. The fairy held out his hand, and Jonghyun – though for the life of him had no idea why he did it – took it. The fairy led him towards the window, before stepping right through the glass and pulling Jonghyun along with him.
The pair stood out in the heavy snow, snowflakes catching in their hair and the cold reddening their cheeks. The fairy let go of his hand and walked back a few paces before spreading his wings and performing a dance.
Jonghyun was captivated.
He’d never seen such beauty in dance. The fairy’s pointed shoes hovered just above the snow, leaving it pristine and untouched. With each twirl the fairy made, the snow around them grew heavier, to the point that Jonghyun struggled to find the ornament come to life in the chaos.
But then, a soft pair of lips pressed against his. Lips as cold as porcelain. Jonghyun’s eyes fell shut and he pulled the fairy closer, he felt the desire to never end the kiss. Far too soon, the fairy pulled away and bowed his head in farewell. Jonghyun wanted to tell the fairy to wait, he had so many things to ask but the snow and the wind became far too strong it knocked Jonghyun to the ground. All while glitter fell over him, and the familiar tune of a dancing fairy filled his head.
When he woke, he was in his bedroom. The sun had barely risen and the world was still sound asleep. He reached for his phone and scrolled through his contacts before falling on Taemin, his boyfriend and bandmate.
I dreamt you were a fairy last night, he wrote.
The response was immediate, Of course you did.

Can I get like a JonghyunxTaemin runaway au scenario?Extablished relationship pleaseee? -Anon
They had to run away
They didn’t really have a choice.
It was that, or get separated by their parents.
They had met in highschool and Jonghyun was a grade older than Taemin
They had a couple of classes together and Jonghyun quickly took a liking to Taemin.
It only took a few months for their friendship to hit the thin line between best friends and something more.
Lots of almost kisses in the locker room, or behind the school.
The only thing holding them back was fear of their parents.
Jonghyun’s parents were strongly against homosexuality and refused to let Jonghyun date anyone becuase they new he was gay
He’d told them on his 14th birthday and they’d grounded him and forbid him from dating, threatening to completely disown him if he ever fell for another boy.
Taemin’s parents on the other hand, were very religious and would punish him if they found out, he’d heard their conversations about ‘what if’ when he’d gone through a phase of having long hair. (They made him cut it)
The two boys vented to one another about their struggles and they quickly realized the only thing holding them back was their parents.
They began dating in secret, their only sanctuary being behind closed doors.
They were able to keep the secret for two years until they were outed by a mistake.
During winter break Taemin had gone over to Jonghyun’s while his parents were at work and they held their own little christmas together, unable to spend the actual day together.
Jonghyun’s parents came home early and found discarded gifts laying in the living room and they heard noises from the upstairs
You can guess what happened next.
Taemin and Jonghyun were ripped from each other
Taemin was kicked out of Jonghyun’s house and his parents were called.
Jonghyun was given a choice; Home or Taemin
Taemin was taken home and locked in his room and told to pray for forgiveness
Jonghyun showed up at Taemin’s house in the middle of the night and crawl in through his open window
He found Taemin asleep, clutching a Rosary with dried tears staining his face.
He packed for Taemin, taking the important things and then woke him up.
“Run away with me”
No one in the town has heard from them since.
Taemin’s parents have sent police to look for Taemin and Jonghyun, and are trying to press charges against Jonghyun for kidnapping Taemin
Both Taemin and Jonghyun cut and died their hair to change their appearance a bit and they travel along coastlines, doing what they can to survive together.
When Taemin asked Jonghyun why he didn’t choose his home over him, Jonghyun just hugged him.
“You are my home.”
A/N I hope you enjoyed! I think is this super angsty but cute too! If anyone wants me to write more about this Runaway AU, like maybe Jongtae can meet the Rest of OT% or something, I’m not sure yet. But I really do love thier backstories (I relate to Taemin’s on a very personal level)
Hey there!! Could you do a domestic jongtae cute fluff where Jonghyun and Taemin are cuddly boyfriends who love soft head scratches & back scratches? I loved the Taekey domestic AU back scratch ones 💓💓💓 (Pls wrote this in fanfic form?)😌 -Anon
Domestic Jongtae- Soft
Taemin’s hair was always so soft.
Jonghyun was home alone on a friday evening waiting for his boyfriend to get to there. They were supposed to have a stay home date tonight at Jonghyun’s apartment. Jonghyun had a candle lit on his small table big enough for two and he was in the kitchen, humming along to the radio and stirring the pork stew he had made for their dinner. He had garlic rolls in the oven and a bowl of melon balls ready in the fridge. He heard his door opening and shutting and then the honey-like voice of his boyfriend
“Honey, I’m home~” He called in a singsong like tone.
Jonghyun smiled and told him that he was in the kitchen as he opened the kitchen cabinet to grab out two plates and two bowls. He stood on his tiptoes to reach for the plates Taemin had put on the highest shelf last time he’d done dishes. While struggling to get a grip of two plates, Jonghyun felt and arm wrap around his waist and he saw Taemin reach out and grad two plates, just centimeters our of Jonghyun’s reach. Jonghyun pouted cutely at his boyfriend, turning as Taemin set the plates on the counter. Jonghyun’s eyes widened, “Babe.... your hair... it’s so... wow.” he stammered, reaching to run his hands through the newly cut and dyed blue hair. “mmm... it still soft too” He whispered, eyes scanning Taemin’s face.
“Yeah, that’s why I’m a bit late, they couldn’t find the color I wanted so I had to pick a different one becuase I was not going to leave with my hair just bleached white” Taemin smiled at the shorter man.
Jonghyun grinned, “But that white hair looked so good on you, maybe you should grow it longer like that next, hm?” he said, moving to hug Taemin close to him, one hand running through the younger’s soft hair. He loved how soft it always was.
“Are you saying you don’t like my hair short like this?” Taemin pouted, nuzzling his cheek against the side of Jonghyun’s face.
Jonghyun shook his head a bit, “No, you always look really hot, and stuff, but if your hair is long, there is more to pet and play with.” he mumbled.
Taemin laughed and pulled away from their embrace. “I swear you think I’m a cat sometimes”
Jonghyun smirked, “Meow meow” he mocked, turning to the empty bowls and plates on the counter behind him.
Taemin sat on the empty counter on the other end of the kitchen, watching his boyfriend plate the food he’d made with a sweet smile on his face, he was absolutely in love with Jonghyun, so so in love.
Their dinner was filled with light banter with lots of praise to Jonghyun’s cooking abilities and lots of teasing about how Taemin wouldn’t survive without him.
Taemin couldn’t agree more
After dinner, Taemin did the dishes and cleaned up for Jonghyun, while the elder went and picked a movie and got their cuddle blanket (reserved only for cuddles) out of his room.
When Jonghyun came out of the bedroom, he saw Taemin waiting for him on the couch and he smiled and pasued before entering the livingroom fully. He bit him lip as his eyes scanned the new head of blue hair his boyfriend was sporting. It really was a good fit for the younger, but if he had to be honest, he would bet that any color would look amazing on his Taemin. Jonghyun was ripped from his thoughts when he heard Taemin call to him. He blinked and made eye contact, shrugging at the younger and joining him on the couch with their cuddle blanket.
“Big or little spoon tonight?” Taemin asked quietly nuzzling his face into Jonghyun’s shoulder. They would typically switch places depending on the night or situation. Jonghyun grinned, “Big, I want to play with your hair.” he said, moving to lay down and make space for Taemin on the wide couch.
“Yessss” Taemin hissed moving off the couch and then back on, cuddling into Jonghyun after turning the light off and starting their movie.
Once they shifted into a comfortable position where they could both still see the screen, Jonghyun ran his hand up Taemin’s side and found his hair, rubbing his scalp softly and playing with his hair. Within minutes he heard a snore and giggled, Taemin, as always, had fallen asleep. The younger did love it when Jonghyun played with his hair.
A/N I tried, and I hope you enjoyed it. I didn’t proof read this as I don’t have the patience currently, I just want to cry tbh, but it’d okay. Jongtae always makes me feel a bit better. I hope you enjoyed the tooth decaying fluuf.

warnings: none
Taemin leans against the doorway of their bedroom, admiring Jonghyun’s relaxed form. He’s on top of their soft periwinkle sheets, bathed in afternoon sunlight, reading another one of those silly romance novels with a shirtless guy on the cover. Taemin considers letting their boyfriend read in peace (for once), but as soon as they notice how glittery and beautiful Jonghyun’s piercings look in this lighting, they change their mind.
Immediately, they flop onto their bed, rolling over until they’re on top of Jonghyun. Taemin hums as they wrap their arms around Jonghyun’s chest, slide up under his hands, and look up at their boyfriend fondly.
“You’re blocking my view of this book,” Jonghyun huffs, pouting as he realizes it’s impossible to comfortably situate his cheesy novel so that he can continue reading over Taemin’s body.
“You've got a pretty good view of me, though,” Taemin grins, but only gets another huff in return. Jonghyun accepts defeat, setting down the book to look at Taemin sprawled across his chest like some kind of starfish. They continue to just lay like that, watching each other, for a bit, until Taemin reaches up and grabs Jonghyun’s lip piercing.
Jonghyun jerks his head back in surprise, smacking his skull on their headboard with a yelp, but Taemin maintains their grip. They rub the cool metal between their fingers, and then move onto Jonghyun’s septum, eyebrow, and ear piercings.
“Uh, what are you doing?” Jonghyun asks, gingerly rubbing the stinging spot on his head.
“I love your piercings, Jonggie,” Taemin sighs.
“Which one’s your favorite?” Jonghyun instantly perks up at the mention of his precious rings and studs.
“Hmmm....” Taemin examines each of Jonghyun’s piercings once more, and appears to be seriously weighing their options, before they softly peck their boyfriend’s lips. They savor the feeling of the smooth silver beneath their own lip for just a moment before retracting with a smile.
“That one.”
“Really? Or do you just like kissing me?” Jonghyun wiggles his eyebrows.
“You caught me,” Taemin giggles, stealing another little peck, “Is this more romantic than whatever was happening in your silly book?”
“Taaaeeemminnnniiieeeeee,” Jonghyun sings, bursting through the bedroom door.
“Yes?” Taemin turns from where he's evaluating his hair in the mirror. Jonghyun skips and twirls towards him, eagerly bestowing a bright red box.
“I have a present for you!”
Taemin immediately flings the box open to reveal black loafers adorned with gunmetal spikes.
“Are these? The Louboutins I saw yesterday?” he gasps.
“Yes! Do you like them?” Jonghyun beams and bounces, looking a lot like an excited puppy. Without a word, Taemin sets the box on the dresser, presses his palms into his eyes, and suddenly starts to cry.
“Wh- what’s wrong?” Jonghyun reaches for Taemin, but he just backs away.
“This- I don’t what-” he sniffs, “I don’t want to do this with you anymore...”
“Oh. I, uh-” Jonghyun clenches his jaw, his eyes now filling with tears, too, “I understand. I can call someone to help pack up your stuff? We can arrange your last payment-”
“No, no, you don’t- I...” Taemin gulps, looks up to the ceiling, and lowers his voice to a whisper, “I love you.”
Jonghyun says nothing; he just stares at Taemin with wide eyes. Taemin’s heart sinks. He’s just ruined everything. Jonghyun clearly doesn’t feel the same way, clearly doesn’t feel that something. How could Taemin be so naive? It’s just a business relationship. He’s basically Jonghyun’s employee for fuck’s sake-
Jonghyun wraps his arms around Taemin. Taemin sucks in a deep breath, trying his best not to cry even harder.
“I love you, too,” he whispers, a few of his tears landing on Taemin’s shoulder.
“Then why did you keep buying me stuff? Paying me to spend time with you? Why didn’t you just... tell me?”
v short funny thing in which taemin contemplates The Most Pressing Issue of our time..... who the hell is naming all these lotions
warnings: cursing
(the title,,,, is a pun)
“Hey, babe?” Taemin whispers, rolling over to face Jonghyun.
“Hhhmmwwwhat?” Jonghyun replies, groaning and blinking into their pitch black bedroom.
“I can't sleep...” Taemin whines.
“Why?” Jonghyun mumbles, and clumsily reaches for Taemin until he hits the other’s form. He pulls him closer until Taemin is tucked up under his chin. He smiles, quickly matching his own breath with Taemin's, and can feel the heavy hands of sleep begin to take their hold again, until Taemin finally speaks.
“The names of lotions and candles and shit are so fucking pointless.”
“Excuse me?” Jonghyun squints at Taemin.
“You know, like, ‘Sunshine’ or ‘Island Breeze’,” he insists, “Nobody fucking knows what the sun smells like. It's a 27 million degree burning rock, Jonghyun. If it smells like anything, it smells like fucking fire, not a lotion.”
“I can't believe you woke me up for this.”
“I’m just so annoyed.”
“Please, for the love of god, go to sleep.”
“Okay...” Taemin huffs, snuggling closer to Jonghyun, “But you agree with me, right? I mean, come on, ‘Twilight Woods’? Who's naming this shit-”
