What made you want to adopt Elizabeth? I know the main reason for her being adopted was because Mrs Joestar could not care for two children alone, but you didn't strike me as the father figure type.

Yes, that much is true. Whether I wished to or not, I felt I could not turn down her request. Our dear friend Baron Zeppeli had given his life to ensure the destruction of Dio, but also to ensure Jonothan would be able to live happily afterwards.

Unfortunately, as you may know, Jonothan passed before he had the chance to meet his son. Though he did not die in vain, that is for certain.

What first came to my mind when Mrs Joestar requested this of me... It was how, despite being taken from us so soon, Jonothan still had a chance to live on through his family.

This may sound selfish, but I must confess. I wish for the same thing- I wish to live on, whether it be here with those closest to me, or in the memories of others. Raising Elizabeth as my own will give me the chance to live on in a similar fashion. Even if I am to die, or change so much I no longer resemble my true self, how I was in my youth will live on in her memory.

Of course, over time, I have grown a stronger connection to her. If there is even a chance of her being threatened, I will stand between her and the threatening party. I am not afraid of risking my life in order to protect her.

I must thank you for asking me this question. It was allowed me to think over this once again, and realize some ideas I hadn't before.
