They fuckong have it online but not actual physical copies in the stores I am furious I could have just gotten it off Amazon in the first place god damn it plus they don't have like any rachel Caine books at all not just The Great Library series but literally none of her books in store wtf????

2) My Dad got us all tickets and we are all going.

Joy Division - She's Lost Control

New favorite moment in meeting rock stars: I asked Peter Hook to switch sides before we had our picture taken because I was standing on my bad side.

"I'll let you get away with that because you're a lady. Now you've got me on my bad side."

This is how our picture turned out.

(The most interesting thing I learned at Peter Hook's Unknown Pleasures event last night was that to get the proper mix, Martin Hannett had Stephen Morris play the backing tracks to their songs with each instrument on an individual track. That means playing the drum part one piece of a kit at a time. I don't even know how that's rhythmically possible. Also, did you know Hooky is really, really ticked off with Bernard Sumner?)

Joseph Beth's Banned Book Embrace

My local book store's children's section is currently featuring banned books near its check-out area. They have all the books set up with little flame book marks peaking out of them with explanation of why they were banned, cause if there's one thing kids love, it's stuff that's not allowed. It does my heart good to see a potential new generation of little hellion book-worms being formed in this age of Kindles and Angry Birds.

Now Reading: Special Topics in Calamity Physics

Three years ago my English teacher recommended and let me borrow this book, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, by Marisha Pessel. It took me a long time to get into it, but then I couldn't put it down. It became my favourite book! I returned her copy and then about a year later finally obtained my own. Special Topics turned into a novel I would re-read if I couldn't decide what else to read at the time or just wanted to pick up something on my way out the door. What I love about Special Topics is all of the literary and movie references. Each time I read it, I recognize more and more things. So each time is a new experience! Then I misplaced my copy :( Now I am starting it for the sixth or seventh time (I think) with a copy from the library. Not only has it been months since I've read it, but I have another incentive: Joseph Beth is having a book club on the Special Topics on July 24th! My favourite bookstore discussing my favourite book, it's perfect! Even though I am confident I could actively participate without re-reading the novel now, I wanted to refresh my memory on the details. I'm excited to take notes and then be able to talk about Special Topics with other people who have actually read it! If you're interested, which you should be, I normally describe it as a "coming-of-age-murder-mystery-secret-society-fanatic novel" Enjoy! :)

Hee! I love it, it's freaking fantastic! And, so involved it's amazing! They have mini-conventions and family activity days, and visiting authors ALL the time! It's actually hard to keep up with, but that's okay because it's awesome! This was the third signing I've been to there, and the largest, but they handled it well. ^^
