I wrote this for a college assignment and I think it disserves a chance in the limelight
"While technology has many a gift to give it also has very notable downsides. A troubling problem I have noticed is the spreading of infectious and downright dangerous ideas. there is a word for this, "Cognito hazard", literally "a hazard to your ability to think". I think that, in consolidating all of the human experience in one, easy to find resource, we have inadvertently given a new vector for literal mental illnesses to infect. a man by the name of Will Wood once said, "ideas don't spread because they're good, ideas spread because people like them." I think that is what is happening as I type. appealing ideas like anarchism and accelerationism gain foot holds in people's minds not because they are good methods of governance, but because they offer a simple and gratifying solution to a complicated and stressful issue. never before has a manifesto been easier to read, simply look up the "Joseph Stack" or "Ted Kaczynski" and you will find very well worded arguments for why you should do the most terrible of things. it would be here I would offer a solution, but I don't have one. I can only hope someone smarter than me will come along soon to grace me with a good idea. or, failing that, an idea I like."
