While serving in Vietnam, Oliver Stone first heard the music of The Doors. This is his homage to the band and lead singer Jim Morrison, from Morrison’s days as a film student at UCLA, to his death in Paris at 27. #ValKilmer is definitely not only Nick Rivers anymore…funny that #RobbyKrieger didn’t think Kilmer could play Morrison because honestly, after seeing this, I can’t picture anybody else. And he did his own singing! (at least to get the part - that’s bonkers.) It was hard for me to realize/remember that Morrison was as young as he was - younger than I am now, when he died (which makes me feel like i’ve done absolutely nothing with my life.) and it was difficult to imagine #MegRyan’s Pamela as as young as she was supposed to be when she met Morrison because this came out AFTER When Harry Met Sally. Also #KyleMacLachlan’s hair throughout like, the entire movie - smh, like whoa. Also also: the camera movement, with the floaty “druggie” angles - Yep, that worked, so well that it made me feel slightly dizzy at times but that was probably the point - I felt like I was doing drugs right there with Morrison. I would buy this if it had been a little more factually/historically accurate - poor #PatriciaKennealy, made a joke of in the line “I was stoned. It seemed like a fun thing to do at the time.” Glad Stone admitted he made a mistake in combining several woman into #KathleenQuinlan’s Kennealy. #ssmovieof2016 #biography #drama #music #FrankWhaley #KevinDillon (now He looked young in this one) #MichaelWincott #MichaelMadson #JoshEvans #SeanStone #FloydRedCrowWesterman #CrispinGlover (he plays Andy Warhol, because of course he did.)
