Manliness

I felt like flipping through a dictionary, and randomly selecting a word, and I find it ironic that, as a homosexual, I just happened to stumble on the word “Manliness”. Manliness, by definition, means having the traits or qualities that a culture regards as especially characteristic of or ideally appropriate to adult men. What does our culture, and other cultures determine to be ideally appropriate for an adult man? I’d probably put a rather large amount of money on the idea that what I find attractive in a man, and what the rest of society finds attractive in a man are two ideas that couldn’t be more opposite. What makes me find a certain set of characteristics of a person more attractive than the next, or more so than another set of characteristics pertaining to a different person?
