Caroline Abbott, a girl in Sackett’s Harbor of 1812, dreams of being a ship captain and sailing the seas on one of her father’s boats. But when war suddenly breaks out between England and America, her father is taken prisoner and she and her mother have to take charge of his shipyard. Despite being in such a dangerous place, Caroline strives to find little joys where she can, protect those she loves, and find her own inner strength. Caroline was first released in 2012, to recognize the War of 1812’s 200th anniversary.

Jocelyn Elizabeth Kendrick is always all in, 100%. So when she tries out for the cheerleading team on a dare and actually gets in, she decides to stay in hopes it can help her surfing improve. But instead, she might find a new joy in teamwork and in opening her mind. Joss was the Girl of the Year for 2020, and was American Girl’s first visibly disabled character, as she comes with hearing aids.

Propaganda: I think that Emily would like either of these girls! Caroline and Joss both because of their connection to the sea. Joss specifically because of her surfing, and Caroline because of her bravery.

Found all 3 of these at the same value village for around $10 each! Left to right: Julie, Bailey (a truly me idk the number I never know the numbers) and Joss! They all were found in those outfits (except for joss’s shorts and technically I swapped julie’s dress off some other 18 inch doll on the shelf bc she had no clothes but shhh (it’s too tight anyway))
