Are You?

A/N: A Josuke x Male reader fic. Just a bunch of angst and comfort at the end. Fear of abandonment from Josuke's end.

"You're not leaving are you?"

Josuke tremored, wanting that little bit of reassurance from Y/N. He always feared that the day would come where Y/N left him. Y/N wasn't leaving him at all, it was just Josuke overthinking things in his mind.

He reached a hand up, rubbing his own throat. Trying to soothe the aching feeling he felt. His breathing quickened slightly, awaiting a response from Y/N as he anxiously watched him.

Y/n, answering a call from Josuke: This better be good, I was sleeping. Josuke: It is! I bought some sandwiches and brought you one! :D Y/n, opening the front door and seeing Josuke with said sandwiches: *Grabs Josuke’s shoulders* I would die for you.

Josuke x Reader (P1)

“Are you excited for the dance?” Yukako asked you impatiently, a big smile was upon her face. You shook your head at her, knowing she was soon about to rant about Koichi to you. “Before you say anything, we should go to the mall and buy some dresses.” You said avoiding the chatter of her boyfriend. “(Y/N)-chan! You’re right! Let’s go right now!” She grabbed your arm and dragged you out of the park to the nearest gown shop in Morioh. Walking down main street arms linked together, Yukako and you were window shopping at all the small shops you passed. “Wait (Y/N)..” Yukako said, making you stop with her. “Hmm? Did you find a dress you liked?” You asked her. “Do you even have a date?” She said covering her mouth in shock. You were a bit taken back realizing that you didn’t have a date. And yet here you were, planning for an amazing time with your best friend and your “supposed” date. “N-No I guess I don’t.” You spoke as you both sat on a bench. “Well, it’s not like no one wants to be your date. A lot of boys asked you out, and you *did* reject them all.” She said. You nodded. “I dunno, I wasn’t really feeling any of them.” She nodded in understanding.

“(Y/N)! Yukako!” You both looked over and saw the trio of guys who you always hung out with. Josuke, Okuyasu, and Koichi. “Koichi!” Yukako shrilled as she ran to him. You giggled and rolled your eyes as Josuke came and sat next to you. “So are you guys dress shopping?” He asked kindly. You smiled warmly at him and nodded. “Yes, it was just something to distract Yukako so she doesn’t kill me of boredom with her rambling.” You whispered to him and he chuckled. You joined in on the laughter. “Wait, why are you looking for a dress? Last I heard, you weren’t going with anyone.” He said with a look of confusion. “Wait, or unless you agreed to someone.” He said quite fast. A look of hurt replaced his confusion. “No no. I haven’t agreed to go with anyone yet.” You said giggling at his feat. “Okay good.” He said smiling and nudging you. You rolled your eyes once again as you playfully slapped his hands away. “(Y/N), We have to get you someone to go to the dance with!” Yukako said suddenly at your side once more. You laughed before stating, “Yeah, but who’s going to take me?” Yukako began naming all the guys in your class off of her fingers as you shook your head at each name she said. “(Y/N)! That’s everyone we know!” Yukako said about to hit you. “Yare yare calm down!” You said putting up your hands defensively. “Not everyone.” Koichi intervened. You both looked over at him waiting for him to continue. “You will have Josuke left since Okuyasu is going to be out of town.” Okuyasu who’s been mainly quiet this entire time shouted, “YEAH!” You giggled. “Well?” You turned your attention over at Josuke who was nervously combing his hair, avoiding your eyes. “(Y-Y/N), will you go to the dance with me?” He said as he sheepishly turned away, a light red dusting his chest. You thought it over. “Sure why not?” You replied giving him a warm smile which he returned. Josuke opened his mouth to say something but Yukako had already grabbed you by the arm, dragging you off to a store to finally buy a dress. “I’ll see you at 8!” You called out to him, waving bye to the trio.

You were currently standing on a small platform in front of several mirrors as Yu-Chan held several dresses she thought were fit for you. The first dress was a light purple, almost lilac colored. It was a two piece one which complemented your hips and hugged your legs. You frowned and shooked your head knowing it would gain a lot of unwanted attention. The next dress was an orange long-sleeved mermaid style dress. It was backless as well. You shook your head once more. “Orange isn’t really my color.” You said as Yukako nodded her head. “Thank god. You’re gorgeous but even I wasn’t sure how you’d pull that offer.” You both laughed and she moved onto the next one. She put a deep blue gown on your figure as you held it for her, seeing if it was right or not. The blue was a pretty color, the dress itself, however, was strapless and had a sash for the waistline; which was covered in small with diamonds varying in sizes. It also traveled up the torso and the bust to a small choker. The skirt of the dress fanned out, but not like a ball gown with layers and layers of fabric. Instead, it was cut at one side which showed your leg and draped over your waist, flowing to the floor. “This one is the one.” You said staring at the mirror in awe. “I agree, that would look killer on you.” She said, then ushered you to the dressing room to try it on while she went in another, wearing the dress she picked out.

You both walked out of the store with bags filled with the main dress and accessories. “We’re so lucky we were able to find such good dresses even though the dance is tomorrow.” You nodded as you leaned over and called for a taxi. “You’re right, and they fit us so well. I'm surprised that we don’t have to get them tailored like usual.” She nodded in agreement as you both got in a cab and made your way home exchanging small talk and plans for the dance and where you’d be getting ready.

As you entered your home, parents at work, your phone dinged. You toss the bag onto your desk as you sat down on your bed, reading it. ‘Josuke: Hey! So about the dance.. (;’ A smile graced your face as you laid down on the bed and replied. ‘What about it? (; lol’ He replied within a few seconds. ‘Josuke: How about, instead of picking you up at 8..’ He said as you waiting for an answer. ‘Yesss…??’ You quickly sent impatiently. ‘Josuke: What if we had a little dinner at Toni’s? (:’ A blush made it’s way to your cheeks as you sat up thinking about it. ‘Like..a date?’ You sent as you got up and stretched. A few minutes have passed as you found your way to the bathroom and began brushing your hair out of boredom. Your phone chimed as an incoming message lit up the screen. ‘Josuke: Hahaha Nah :P’ He said as you slightly frowned. You were about to slide to reply but another message came in. ‘Josuke:...unless... Of course, that would be okay with you..?’ You smiled once more as you replied. ‘Of course (:’

You were awoken by your friend basically breaking down your front door. “(Y/N!! IT’S THE BIG DAY!” Running to the front door before she could make any major damage, you saw the door partially opened, with Yukako squeezed through it as the chain lock was preventing the door from opening any more. “Mind helping me?” She said grinning. “Yeaaaaaaaaah just hold on.” You took out your phone, taking a picture and sending it to Koichi labeling it ‘Come get your man.’ Once you undid the lock, she swung the door wide open, almost off its hinges too. “Yukako, calm down, you’re going to destroy my place.” You said but she ignored you as she grabbed your arm and dragged you to your bedroom, tossing her bag where you were previously asleep. “So quick thing, Koichi wanted us to take professional photos so I won’t be seeing you until 8 at the dance.” She said as she took out her dress, laying it down on the bed. “Oh, that’s alright. Josuke is planning to take me to dinner at Toni’s first.” You said nonchalantly as she did the same with your dress. “WHAT?” She said running over to you and grabbing your shoulders. “(Y/N)! This is a BIG deal!!” You glanced at her confused. “Why?” “Because Josuke is one of the most popular guys in school, and you’d make a perfect couple!” You shook your head and laughed. “Come on! Tell me you don’t like him like that. We’ve all seen how you act around each other. It’s clearer than a day.” You thought about what she said as she put your hair up in a low effort bun then did the same with her hair. “I guess you’re right. He is handsome.” You said resting your cheek on your hand as you thought about the pompadour man.

Once dressed, you let Yukako do your makeup since she had already done hers while you were daydreaming. “Okay, now you look even more gorgeous.!” She said handing you a mirror and you smiled at your reflection. A honk came from outside. “That must be Koichi!” Yukako said excitedly as she grabbed her purse, “I’ll see you at the dance!” She called from the living room as you hear the front door close. Your smile faltered a bit as you realized you were growing anxious for the event. Soon Josuke will be here any minute. ‘Will he like the dress?’ ‘What if he goes for someone else instead?’ ‘Maybe he’s just as nervous as I am.’ A knock at the door quickened your heart beat as you *knew* it was Josuke. “Pardon the intrusion, (Y/N), I’m here, are you ready?” He called from the living room, allowing himself in. You stood up and dusted off your dress as you undid the bun, letting your (h/c) locks frame your face. “Coming!” You said, grabbing the purse Yukako got for you and putting your phone in it.

You entered the living room, smiling at Josuke. “Oh he-” He cut himself off as he went slack-jawed at your appearance. “Is it a bit too much?” You said, brushing your hair with your fingers. “N-NO! I mean No!, You look gorgeous.” He said, earning a blush from you. He extended his arm at to you. “Shall we?” He smiled brightly as his marine eyes were full of admiration. “We shall.” You said returning the smile, linking your arms together.

Josuke x Reader

Sitting on the plane, you put in your earbuds listening to your favorite song as you touched down in Morioh. Grinning ear to ear when you look out the window at the city's beautiful scenery. Oh how much you've missed the small town and its people. Especially your best friend Yukako. You make your way into the terminal searching for the long raven-haired woman. "(Y/N)!! OVER HERE!!" You heard a voice in the distance shout to you. You glanced around until you saw Yukako jumped up and down and waving her hands. You laughed at her antics. "Yu-Chan!" You shouted as you both ran to each other, embracing the other in a tight hug. "It's been too long, you wouldn't believe what has happened since you left!" She began excitedly. "Why don't you tell me on the ride home?" You said smiling at her anticipation to tell you everything that's happened.

"And Koichi and I are dating now!!" Yukako squealed happily to you as she hugged your arm. "I'm so happy for you Yu-chan! Will you introduce me to your new friends?" You asked smiling at her. "Of course! After all, you are my best friend! And only female friend.." She said rubbing her neck at the end. Yukako only acts this way around Koichi, me, and her family. You weren't sure how, but you two got along quite well. "What about you (Y/N)-chan? Are you with anyone?" She asks a sly smile forming on her face. You laughed, "Oh please, do you think there were any cute guys at my transfer school?" You waved off her silliness. "I was only asking because you might like someone here!" She said, still with that sly smile. "Baka, I won't!" You said laughing as you playfully hit her arm.

"Thank you!" You and Yukako bowed at your cab driver as he drove off. "Come on, we're all meeting at the cafe," Yukako said grabbing your hand and pulling you along with her as you were too preoccupied at scrolling a bunch of messages in your phone. "Can you order for me? I'll wait out here for Koichi~and the others." Yu-chan asked as she sat down in the outdoor seating. "Yeah yeah." You said waving your hand, still reading the messages. You entered the cafe rolling your eyes at the abundance of messages one of the guys from your transfer school sent you. 'So clingy.' You thought to yourself as you locked your phone, putting it in the back pocket of your jean shorts. "Two milk teas and two boxes of chocolate Pocky please." You handed the barista the amount required and thanked her as you walked back to where Yukako was waiting, along with 3 guys. One of them, you recognized as Koichi since you've met him before and since he's sitting so close to Yukako. The other two sat across from the couple. "Ey, Yu-Chan!" You said gaining all of their attention as you set down the tray and sat next to her. "(Y/N)!, this is Koichi but you already knew I'm sure!~" She said smiling and blushing slightly. She was always so cute whenever she boasts about Koichi. “WOAH! I didn’t know Yukako had such a hot friend!” One of the males in front of you with currency symbols on his uniform shouted quite loudly. “Okuyasu! Calm down, you’re going to scare her!” The other male with a big purple pompadour said. “Eh sorry Josuke but it’s true! Look at her!” You giggled feeling your face heat up as Okuyasu gestured at you with both hands. “I’m so sorry about him,” Josuke said at you, rubbing his neck nervously. “It’s okay.” You said smiling warmly at him. He seemed a bit taken back by your expression but he smiled back. You could’ve sworn you saw him blushing a bit. You felt a jab in your side as you glanced over at Yukako who was grinning devilishly. “Shut it.” You said through your teeth as you glared at her. “So (Y/N)-chan came back from a 6 month transfer program! She used to attend our school before you guys arrived. And she’s already familiar with the town.” Yu-chan said as she put an arm around your shoulder. “Maybe we should go over to Josuke’s house and play video games.” Koichi suggested. Yukako agreed, since after all it was Koichi’s idea. “YEAH LET’S GO!” Okuyasu shouted as he stood up and fumbled to get his school bag. ‘He’s quite a loud one. But he has such an outgoing personality.’ You thought to yourself as you smiled at him. Okuyasu made eye contact with you as his own face heated up when he noticed you were smiling at him. At the corner of your eye, you saw Josuke looking at you both with a certain look in his eyes. Maybe you were just imagining it.

You all followed Josuke as he opened his front door and he welcomed you guys to his house.“Would you guys like anything to drink or eat?” You shook your head, Yukako copying your action. “(Y/N)-chan, come with me.” She whispered as she had that mischievous look on her face again. You rolled your eyes knowing something was going to happen if you did, but nonetheless, you followed her upstairs to what you assumed to be Josuke’s bedroom. Okuyasu and Koichi were still downstairs with Josuke preparing snacks and drinks for themselves. “Do you still have the two boxes of Pocky?” She asked you as you grabbed it out of your bag and showed her a box. “Come on! Let’s sit in a circle.” She said as pulled you to the floor with her. Josuke, Koichi, and Okuyasu entered Josuke’s bedroom and saw you two sitting on the floor as she had you in a headlock to hand her the pocky. “Are..are we interrupting something?” Josuke spoke. As soon as you heard him, you and Yukako separated, both smiling to hide something. “Nope, not at all!” Yukako says triumphantly as you realized you were no longer holding the box of Pocky. “Come on, let’s sit in a circle!” Yukako said as pulled you to the floor with her. Josuke, Koichi, and Okuyasu entered Josuke’s bedroom and saw you two sitting on the floor as she had you in a headlock to hand her the pocky. “Are..are we interrupting something?” Josuke spoke. As soon as you heard him, you and Yukako separated, both smiling to hide something. “Nope, not at all!” Yukako says triumphantly as you realized you were no longer holding the box of Pocky. “Come on, let’s sit in a circle!” Yukako said as she patted the ground. The order you sat in from left to right was Yukako (being across from you) Okuyasu sitting next to her following, you, Koichi, and Josuke. “Do you have the empty bottle?” Yukako asked Okuyasu who pulled out an empty bottle from his schoolbag. You weren’t sure how you haven’t noticed it before. He set it in the center of the circle. ‘Wait-’ You thought as Yukako began explaining the rules.

“We’re going to go counterclockwise, and you have to do the Pocky challenge with whoever the bottle lands on.” She said staring right at you while she shook the pocky box. You narrowed your eyes at her knowing this was all part of her scheme. “I’ll go first and next will be Josuke!” She said, twisting the bottle as everyone watched it spin anticipating on who it would land on. The bottle pointed at Koichi, of course. She lit up as she took out a Pocky stick and put one end in her mouth, and Koichi repeating her actions. You hadn’t realized that you were still glaring at her when you felt Josuke nudge your leg with his foot. You snapped out of the trance you were in and looked over at him with a questioning look. ‘You okay?’ He mouthed to you and you nodded giving him a smile. It seemed to catch him off guard as his eyebrows shot up in surprise before they relaxed and returned your smile. “(Y/N)-CHAN!” You glanced over at Yukako who had a look of menacing on her face. Josuke grabbed the bottle and looked up “Please don’t let it be Okuyasu.” He said and everyone laughed including yourself as Okuyasu looked hurt and he dramatically put a hand on his chest.

He spun the bottle and it slowed down at Okuyasu and everyone was screaming but it stopped just at you and then everyone went quiet. “YES! YES! YES! YEEEES!” You looked over at Yu-chan who was fist pumping the air smiling. You could feel Josuke’s eyes on you as you heard the Pocky box open and he pulled one out. ‘I have to do this or Yukako will forever haunt me at this moment.’ You tell yourself as you turned your head to look over at Josuke, who already had the Pocky in his mouth waiting for you. You felt your face heat up at the sight. You swallowed all the hesitation and thoughts that were holding you back and you leaned forward, taking the other end in your mouth. You saw Josuke’s turn really red as you both stayed frozen. You felt everyone’s eyes on you, ‘This is going to be awkward if we just stay like this.’ Your (e/c) were met with his aquamarine eyes that held nervousness and a touch of another emotion. Something you couldn’t quite understand, but it was mutual. It seemed like he was thinking the same thing as he picks off some Pocky, moving closer to you. You were internally screaming as Yukako was externally screaming, shaking poor Koichi in the background as you bit off some too. At this point, both of your noses were touching but your eyes didn’t break contact. He was really close now. You were about to break the Pocky so you would win, but apparently, he had another idea, as his hands shot up and gently grabbing your face, breaking the Pocky and kissing you. His eyes had closed now as you were still recovering from shock. You closed your eyes and kissed him back before you both pulled away. Faces both a deep red. “WHY DOES JOSUKE GET TO KISS THE PRETTY GIRl?!” Okuyasu said as Yukako covered his mouth glaring at him. You looked over at Josuke who was rubbing his neck and he glanced over at you and smiled shyly. You gave him a smile back.
