You might have heard about the recent puberty blocker ban in Aotearoa New Zealand. It's a cruel move against some of our most vulnerable rangatahi. Fortunately, The Professional Association for Transgender Health Aotearoa is taking legal action to try and reverse the ban before too much harm can be done.
A few ttrpg designers from Aotearoa have put together this bundle to support PATHA. $19.99 USD gets you supplements for D&D, Pathfinder, MOTW and Stewpot, as well as a collection of stand alone games. All for a really important cause!
Rpgs not your thing? Don't have twenty bucks spare? You can also donate directly to PATHA here.
Reblogs are greatly appreciated to help get more eyes on this! We're grateful for help in whatever form it takes. <3
hi!! i made a solo journaling game on itch.io if you want to check it out :))
from the game page:
Welcome to Pine's Landing, a small coastal town with a close-knit community. Draw cards and roll some dice to come up with the details of your character's life and interactions with the people in town.
Flexible in terms of themes and genre, allowing players to choose to focus on friendships, lore and mysteries, helping out your community, or wherever else the narrative may take you.
All you need is a deck of cards, 1-2 six sided dice (d6), and a way to write your story down.
Once upon a time, the world teemed with adventurers, travellers, merchants, and the roving gangs of bandits who sought to take advantage of them and their goods- and gold-laden packs. But the world is not like it once was.
Among the Last Bandits is a solo journalling game where you take on the role of a bandit captain leading a small gang of bandits with chequered pasts through the barren lands of a premodern world ravaged by the Wrath of a Sun God. This game was made for the Celebrating SRDs jam, based on the delightful Peregrine SRD.
If you can't afford the game, feel free to claim a community copy!
CHVLR is a journaling game about the terrible cost of war and the scars it leaves on those chosen to fight it. It is a game about violence. It is a game about fear.
But most of all, it is a game about hope. Its power and its absence.
Using the Wretched & Alone system, you play as the newest recruit to an experimental military program. You are a teenager, barely into your adolescence before you are chosen, or perhaps forced, to pilot a colossal bipedal robot known as a CHVLR (Chevalier, pronounced "shuh" + "VAL" + "ee" + "ay").
There has been little in the way of training. You are the only one that can pilot this machine - you are the only one with the ability to command its power. Now it is time for you to take to the field.
You will see and do terrible things. You will kill.
Few can truly prepare for the burden that such a responsibility places on your mind and your body. You are so young, and so much rests on your shoulders.
The game requires a standard deck of playing cards, a six-sided die, 10 tokens, a tumbling block tower (optional), and a way to record your entries.
For steel you are,
And stone you hold,
Your long beams stretch,
And your deep pipes bring.
Inside you I am home,
Inside you I am safe.
You guide me everywhere I go,
Down walkways, and corridors,
Expanses, and stairways.
Can I join you?
Could I love you?
Will you love me too?
What Is This ?
For Steel You Are is a solo journaling game about a robot who falls in love with an unfathomable megastructure. To play, you will need a place to write your responses, a d8 to roll, and a yearning deep inside for concrete, steel, and being like a mote of dust inside something beyond comprehension.
Every step you take within the Structure fills you with a sense of love and wonder that will soon render you unrecognizable. Love the Strucutre, and maybe it will love you too.
Inspired by BLAME!, NaissanceE, and The Ground Itself.
Made for the Faggot Game Jam!
Fall so much in love with an unfathomable megastructure that you lose yourself entirely. Robot 4 Architecture
Thanks for the free to use PSA on your blog page, @albatross-the-pen-chewer ! I was struck with a vision today of a deck building / journaling / cartography solo rpg, and the Never Found sign sat right in the middle of the whole idea.
It starts with a blank notebook, a blank sheet of paper for drawing a map, a standard poker deck, a coin, and a standard set of polyhedral die (d4, d6, 2d10, d12, and d20). I painted a box to keep my game supplies in while I tweak the details:
Vague game mechanics under the cut.
You're a detective investigating a stack of cold cases, left behind by a colleague who disappeared a while back. Draw a card from your deck, roll all of the dice, and check a series of tables to determine biome, weather, and other attributes. Following the tables, write a description of the place you've found yourself in. Then, roll the dice again to determine who disappeared there, and write a missing person report for your cold case notebook.
Flipping the coin determines whether you are able to finish documenting this location and its victim in your notebook before the place tells you to leave. If you're allowed to finish your notes, roll a d8 to determine which compass direction you move. If you're interrupted, roll a d10.
If you roll a one, you must move straight down; Start Digging. Get a new piece of paper, and start an underground map with a different set of tables.
On a zero, you feel compelled to move straight up, but since you can't fly, the location begins to consume you. Write down how this happens, then roll a d20; on a 1, you are Neverfound, and the game ends.
If you're permitted to leave a location, it tells you its name. Write the name on the card you drew, on your map, and at the top of the associated case file. Shuffle the deck and draw another card to continue. If at any point you draw a location you've already seen, you find yourself transported there, and you must roll to escape again.
I've got a lot of tables to write and details to hash out, but I'm excited to write a solo game instead of just playing a bunch of them.
