Sunday, July 5 was the 56th anniversary of a jetliner crash near Toronto's Pearson Airport that killed 109 people. In the book, My Life as a Reporter, I recount how on that morning I was in the newsroom of the Toronto Telegram when the only other person in the room, a copy boy, took a phone call from a man telling us about the crash. Within an hour I had assembled one of the largest teams ever mustered at the newspaper to cover every aspect of the story.
