Gave two prostitutes a lift the other day. They were my age.
All dressed up, going to town when everybody was coming back.
Going out to make enough money so their mother's wouldn’t have to stare helplessly into the fire with nothing on it.
She laughed when I asked her why she didn’t line up for the food packs, said they weren't being handed out for her. They weren't made with her in mind.
Clearly nothing was.
I could do nothing but drop her off where she wanted. Watch her walk over to a van in the rear view mirror.
This job is painful.
